Anyone ever been there? We're thinking of staying there for the honeymoon. We just something where we can relax and is different from Miami.

I haven't been there for many years and don't remember much. However, as far as East coach beaches go (and I mean only NJ, DE, MD, VA, SC, NC) the most highly regarded beaches are typically Myrtle Beach and the Outer Banks (and I have to agree).

Myrtle Beach has the better nightlife but if you are looking for something a bit more quaint and private I'd recommend looking into renting a house in the Outer Banks. However, I don't know what your budget is. This is typically done by larger groups of people splitting the cost so it may not be feasible.

Not trying to discourage you from VA Beach. Just trying to suggest possible alternatives that are more universally acclaimed.

Tell me more about Myrtle Beach, please. :)

There is probably "more to do" there than most other places on the East Coast (the NJ to SC corridor). I guess it depends on what your taste is.

The major tourist district is called Broadway at the Beach which is packed with hotels, bars, stores, and restaurants.

There are two amusement parks (one seaside general family park and one Hard Rock cafe themed) and one water park.

In all honesty, that is all worth checking out if you enjoy theme parks. If you get sick of touristy stuff (as I sometimes do), Charleston is a great day trip if you don't mind the drive. There are also some half decent wineries in the area.

If you would be staying a week or more I strongly recommend renting a condo rather than staying at a hotel. If you time it right, you can find the condos to be cheaper and nicer than most of the hotels.

I agree that Myrtle Beach would be better but if you want to go to Virginia Beach, go to the Sandbridge area. If you want to spend a quiet week together on a great beach in an awesome place full of beach houses and cottages it's a great way to go.
