November 9, 200322 yr Florida. I knew I was supposed to root for Tennesse today, but the Gators have to beat FSU anyways. Seeing Miami lose is priceless. I couldn't wait for these last 2 weeks; I thought it would never happen!

Well, there's a general consensus that whenever your team's conference foes are playing non-conference games, you root for your conference, as it makes your team look better...I guess. I don't buy it, but that seems to be a common thing.

I consider an exception in the case of a guy like me that roots for Northern Illinois because I live right by it. I root for teams like Bowling Green and Miami of Ohio and such when they play the big schools, but that's just because the MAC is a small conference that I want to see get bigger and maybe one day get a BCS bid affiliation. However, if your team is in the ACC or Big 10 or something, I don't know why you would ever root for in conference rivals.
