Kyle Skipworth

What happens if he finishes up the season hitting around .200? Does he just come into 2010 hitting at such a low level? Do you approach your No.1 pick a bit differently or do you wait for him to have some success at a level before moving him up?

he very likely repeats greensboro, yeah

I'm pretty sure Skipworth wasn't compared to Mauer going into the 2008 draft. He was said to be the most highly touted H.S. catcher since Mauer. Two entirely different things.

So far the best pick from 08 would either be Graham Johnson or Issac Galloway(steal of the draft). Blake Brewer and Edgar Olmos have great potential as well.

I'm not completely sold on Galloway considering his plate discipline. He's striking out every fourth pa and has a 0.23 BB/K. I mean, if he had plus plus power I'd understand, but from what I've read we're talking more of 20+ HRs down the road, which is still good, but we're talking about probably an average OFer IF he works out and can be one of the hitters with poor discipline to make the jump to the majors rather than the many AAAA players. Now maybe his plate discipline does make a huge jump, not unheard of. And maybe he can grow into 30 HR power and become our Alfonso Soriano. Not writing him off as something yet, just what I see the likely course being. And that's not bad and I'm certainly not trying to say Galloway is a bad spec, he's certainly a top-20, top-15 spec in our system. But I'm a lot more interested in several of the other pitchers we took.
