July 13, 200917 yr so the cubs are playing the cards in the top of the 9th and marshall came in to face a batter. the batter walks so then marshall goes to play left field and heilman pitches. finally the batter strikes out and marshall comes back from left to pitch on the mound and reed johnson plays left field. i never knew you could do that. so is marshall considered a pitcher or an outfielder??

July 13, 200917 yr I've actually seen that before, probably 20 or more years ago. The Mets did it, with the reliever going into right field for a batter or two, then returning to the mound. I think that was an extra inning game.
July 13, 200917 yr The Braves did this last year with former Marlin Chris Resop... if I remember correctly, the move didn't actually work out for the Braves.
