We haven't had "horrible" closers. You could say this year has been a major disappointment between Lindstrom and Nunez. I often wonder how when Lindstrom would be if he wouldn't have played in the WBC.

Interesting stat: K-Rod, the guy who is making $12 million this year (over one-third of our entire payroll) has blown as many saves as Nunez this year, and just two less than Nunez and Lindstrom combined. Yes, we definitely need to spend the big bucks on those guys because they have the "mindset" to pitch in the ninth inning.

Lindstrom- I really think with his arm throwing 99 instead of 86, it could happen. But just because Nunez or Lindstrom aren't going to be the closing answer doesn't mean we should spend bucks on a closer, you're right about that. Spending money on relievers is about the most unsure bet in baseball and why spend money on that when starting pitching is such a key weakness still? Maybe we should make RVH a closer-in-training. We're going to have to keep him and Miller on the roster or deal them anyway and RVH has always been effective at first, then blowing up later. Asking him to pitch just one inning might have better results.
