good books about sports?

Featured Replies

i dug Baseball Between The Numbers, and i've got Bill Simmons' Book of Basketball and i can't put it down. gimmie some other good ones.

Mike Holley who is a radio personality for WEEI radio has written three good sports books. I only read Red Sox Rule, but there is also Patriot Reign and Never Give Up. Of course they are regional to NE sports, but both Patriot Reign and Red Sox Rule are inside looks to the coach/managers and the teams. If you were interested easiest way for you to get them since you are in Boca would probably be through Amazon.

There is a book about a Cape Cod baseball league that my friend read and he loved it. I can't remember the title, unfortunately. I read the Friday Night Lights book and it was also really great. It's Not About the Bike by Lance Armstrong was great as well.

I was reading 'License to Deal' by Jerry Crasnick and it was pretty good, but I stopped because I don't have the patience to read a book from beginning to end. I probably will finish it eventually. Anyway, the book delved into the life of a baseball agent, and it's kind of ironic because the main character is Matt Sosnick, who happens to represent our own Josh Johnson and has been a hot topic here on the boards.

I'm currently reading Moneyball, which is a good read.

Bill Simmons other book "Now I can Die in Peace" is a pretty funny book about the BoSox, nice read.

Eight Men Out

Juiced

A-Rod

The Blind Side

The Boys of Summer

All I felt were very good reads.

As a Mets fan, I really enjoyed "The Bad Guys Won" by Jeff Pearlman about the 86 world series. Not so glowing book about the 86 team.
