Party in the USA? Wow..

"It's hardly a motivating-type song, but maybe it puts him in a good mood!"

—RHP Chris Volstad, on "Party in the USA" by Miley Cyrus, the music Cameron Maybin chose as his "walk-up" song, played when he walks up to the plate to hit.

It's not a prank.

Florida Marlins walk-up hit: Cameron Maybin ready to “Party in the USA

by Joe Capozzi The Marlins play their home opener tonight, and that means players for the first time this season will walk out to music of their choice.

Usually, it’s heavy metal, rap or hip hop that blares over the Sun Life Stadium PA system as players are introduced and walk to the plate. But word is that Cameron Maybin has a surprise in store.

One of Maybin’s walk-up songs will be “Party in the USA by Miley Cyrus.

“It goes against that grain a little bit but I think more people will like it than won’t like it,’’ said Chris Volstad.

“It’s one of those popular catchy songs people like. It’s hardly the motivating-type song but maybe it puts him a good mood.’’

Maybin wouldn’t talk about his choice, offering only a big grin.

But catcher John Baker – who’ll walk out to Jimi Hendrix’s All Along the Watch Tower – thinks Maybin’s choice will be a hit.

“People will think it’s funny,’’ he said.

Yeah, it wasn't a prank, as was stated. It was announced before the game.

That said, he didn't use it on Saturday, he used So Fresh So Clean and some other song. No idea what he used Sunday.
