Posted April 20, 201015 yr I'm planning on getting the service and i got a couple of questions. This first one might be stupid but I just want to make sure, I will be out of town this summer (mostly around the Atlanta area) and I just want to make sure the Marlins games won't be blacked out even though on my MLB account I'm registered with my Miami address. I'm pretty sure they aren't but just want to make sure. Second question. Is the premium service worth the extra money?
April 20, 201015 yr I agree with Penguino about the choice of commentators being a main selling point of the premium service
April 21, 201015 yr Author Don't necessarily take this as fact because I might be wrong on some things... I think the blackouts are done by IP address, so if you are outside of the Miami viewing area (Atlanta), you shouldn't have a problem. This means that all Braves/Marlins games should be blacked out and you will have to watch those on cable/satellite. This seems to be the case from what I've observed. I don't think using an address and credit card registered in the Miami area will hurt you. As for the premium service, it all comes down to how much you value the luxury of being able to select your own announcers. I had MLB TV last season and for me the extra $20 was worth it for me to be able to listen to Rich and Tommy during road games. All of the other features, such as the split screen and DVR rewind, are pretty worthless in my opinion. I don't particular see the need in having to rewind a live game and I never had the desire to watch multiple games at once. I suppose some people like these things but I don't need them. Being able to select home/away feeds was the dealbreaker for me. Yeah, that's what I think. Thanks for the input.
April 22, 201015 yr MLB.TV is now coming out with a product for the PS3 That is awesome news! I tend to hook up my laptop to my tv anyway, but it means now I can have my laptop free for other things while watching the games, such as posting in the MB.com game threads

I've used MLB.TV to watch Marlins games when I've traveled (in Houston, Alabama, Atlanta, and New York) and I've always been able to see their games despite having a Miami address. And I agree with Penguino, the extras $5 monthly is worth being able to choose your feed.
