Anybody know much about this kid or what the marlins gave up to acquire him? Looks like he's having a decent season in AAA so far this year - he's started more often than not, but he'd have to be a bullpen option here.

Between sanabia, houser and this move looks like beinfest is trying to throw anything he can at the bullpen to see if anything sticks ..... looks like a last ditch desparate effort to see if they can do a low cost fix to the big glaring issue before making a decision on if they want to buy/sell at the deadline

Also, is there room on the roster for all 3 to be up? Is sanabia definitely up, all i've found is that blurb from the jax sun recap. Or all we all just going to have to wait until tommorrow to see how things look..............

ugh - nevermind ............

looks like this move was done last week and this kid already has a start for the zephyrs .......... this is what happens when you try to follow a team from across the country and lose your computer for a week battling some stupid virus.......

what are you talking about?

Last week, the Marlins acquired Triple-A left-hander Wes Whisler from the White Sox, who drafted him in the second round in 2004. With Charlotte, Whisler had a 5.02 ERA in 19 appearances (28 2/3 innings). A product of UCLA, Whisler made his major league debut last season and allowed two runs on no hits, walked three and struck out two in 1 1/3 innings (three games). Whisler starter Saturday for the Zephyrs at Memphis and gave up two runs on a hit with two walks and two strikeouts in three innings….

Remember also, part of the equation is the Marlins' obligation to keep minor league franchise rosters populated (and you can't always just move guys up a notch if they aren't ready or destroy the competitiveness of a team) so if you anticipate making certain moves you need to find players to rebuild those teams.

The Marlins also signed a guy named Mastny a week or so ago and assigned him to AAA where he's been starting, his last outing he performed quite effectively. You'll see more of these guys as moves are made.
