July 20, 201016 yr Ok I know there will be several names thrown into the mix, and ultimately Edwin may win the job if he somehow got us to the playoffs, but I decided to post this anyway: According to Tom Krasovic of AOL Fanhouse, the Marlins will consider Padres bench coach Ted Simmons for their managerial vacancy after the season. The Marlins also plan to interview current interim manager Edwin Rodriguez, among others. Simmons has never been a full-time manager in the big leagues, but would welcome the challenge. "At this point I either get on with doing it or forget about it, and it's much too compelling to forget about it," said Simmons. The 60-year-old was the bench coach for Ned Yost with the Brewers in 2008 before joining the Padres in 2009.
July 20, 201016 yr So far, I can't complain about the majority of the choices Edwin has made as manager. We are 11-11 with him as of now, but mainly thanks to things beyond his control, like Cantu. The rest of the season should help decide what to do with him, but as of now, I don't mind him at all.
