September 7, 201213 yr I think it is going to be extremely difficult to compete in 2013. Because of this, I think trading him and getting pieces for the immediate future is best for the team. I think his value will increase in the offseason, especially if he has a nice September. The free agent class of SP's this offseason is pretty weak. If Loria is still our owner, then yes. If he sells to a dedicated person who is willing to compete, we can do what the Dodgers have done and go from crap to contenders. Keep JJ, sign Shields/Greinke along with some bats and make some trades. Our prospects suck and the farm is depleted. Imagine the Markins had been buyers this year and landed Adrian Gonzalez, Greinke, Victorino and maybe even Hunter Pence. Might we not be in contention for the wild card right now? You are not smart. Yelich, Fernandez, Turner, Brantly, Conley, Heaney, Ozuna... they all suck!!!!!! But apparently they are good enough to land Adrian Gonzalez, Greinke, Victorino and Pence! yeah, if the marlins had given up those prospects to get any of the names mentioned id be incredibly upset. however...they can purge the majority of the zephyrs team, and a solid amount of the suns for all i care...keep the obvious standouts. the marlins best prospects are all in the lower levels right now anyways, there is no reason to move johnson unless he wants an overpriced extension. at best hes an ace, at worst hes a 2 or 3 man. his problem this season mostly seems to be getting back into it after missing most of last season. barring a rough july hes definitely improved since the first 2 months of the season...and shows flashes of dominance every now and then. he also pitches really well at marlins park (2.90 era, 1.16 whip, .240 baa)...so fans who watch him play at home arent going to be disappointed that often.
