December 2, 200322 yr "The team also has made a multiyear offer to All-Star catcher Ivan Rodriguez and is close to re-signing free-agent reliever Chad Fox." :thumbup Good news, especially that Fox is also coming back. Too bad I get the feeling Pudge won't take the deal, and will run for the money somewhere else.
December 2, 200322 yr SIGNING Tuesday to a four-year contract that would pay the All-Star third baseman $32 million. But there's a catch. Lowell The contract would kick in only if the Marlins get a new stadium deal approved. If a new stadium is not approved, the contract becomes a one-year deal with a player option, leaving the decision to remain with the club up to Lowell. omg wHAT ? huh ? ok

December 2, 200322 yr Author Yep good news with Chad Fox most likely coming back but bad news with Ugie most likely not coming back according to Beinfest. But that doesnt surprise me much considering were a small-market team and cant spend 5 million dollars on one reliever alone. Id like to look into Mike Dejean and maybe sign Looper back cheaper after non-tendering him. Closers are expendable unless your Gagne or Smoltz thats it.

Not stadium means, less revenue, and less revenue means a lower payroll. Lowell has said numerous times that he will like to stay here, if the FO is commited to winning. If we don't get a stadium, I don't think he will be happy playing with a team that can't bring quality players due to its revenue limitation.
December 2, 200322 yr Greedy Pudge... Jeez people....GET OVER IT!! Players go where the money is, plain and simple, whether you like it or not.
December 3, 200322 yr Greedy Pudge... Jeez people....GET OVER IT!! Players go where the money is, plain and simple, whether you like it or not. Arod didnt go that Way I think Pudge will sign with us. Alot of teams seem to be backing off on giving pudge the 10 mil. We should be very Happy to also get Pudge (If he resigns) and thats great news on fox. Many of the people on the board though that if The Marlins were to Sign 2 of the 3 (Castillo, Lowell, Pudge) that the marlins can be very competitive for the WC or Division. And now theres a chance to get all 3 back.
