There like 7 Post abput Pudge and his contract extension but have you guys forgot that Urbina, Helling got the same time left as Pudge? And neither will be offer arbitration... And they have not mention if they will offer arbitration to Looper..

Looper is due on the 20th (I believe) because he's not a FA, everyone on our team under-contract has a different time frame because they're not 6 year free agents yet.

Ugy is a straight free agent, and Helling is not arbitration eligble I do not believe. Today's deadline is only for Pudge because it was specified in his contract, it does not apply to anyone else on the Marlins' roster.

Not the same situation. We could sign any of those names tomorrow from free agency.

If we don't get a deal with Pudge tonight, we can't sing him till May.

people arent talking about urbina because hes not likely to come back. not even the news are talking about him. i dont like that they arent talking about him but what can you do???

If we don't get a deal with Pudge tonight, we can't sing him till May. no, if we don't offer our free agents salary arbitration by midnight tonight, we cannot negotiate with them until may.

in other words, if something doesn't happen tonight, uggs and helling aren't coming back.

an ESPN article sais Ugie wont be offered Arb and the team hasnt anounced whether loop will be offered yet...

Other articles conflict that, saying they will, but only so he signs somewhere else and we get a draft pick.

I know he hasnt been offered anything yet but I believe they will non-tender him and sign him back at a reasonable price. He is the best option at closer for us next year unless we go after Guarado or Foulke which obviously isnt going to happen and NO!! Dejean or Jiminez are not better than Looper.

She strikes again...

Oh yeah Wildcard shove this up your a** :fyou

I don't believe this is accurate for anyone besides Pudge. It was a stipulation in HIS contract, no one else's.

sorry man but if he is non tendered he cant re sign until May so his marlins career would be over...

I don't believe this is accurate for anyone besides Pudge. It was a stipulation in HIS contract, no one else's. Those are the rules. Any player not offerd arbitration by December 7th is not allowed to speak to his old team until May 1st, and any player who is signed as a free agent is not allowed to be traded until June 1st.

It's accurate for all three. If we don't offer any of the 3 abritration tonight, then we can't sign them until May 1st. The difference is that Pudge's contract says we can't offer him arbitration even if we wanted to; we're choosing to not offer arbitration to Uggy and Helling. It's still the same rule though.

Are you sure KJC I could have sworn I read that somewhere, that it could happen.

if a team has a player who is now a free agent, the team MUST offer the player arbitration by tonight at midnight if they want to keep negotiating rights with that player and if they want draft pick compensation if the player leaves.

if the team does not offer arbitration by tonight, the team is barred from negotiating with the player until may.

in pudge's contract last year, it was stipulated that the marlins are NOT allowed to offer pudge arbitration. we have NO OPTION here. thus, we have until tonight to sign him.

with our other free agents (helling, hollandsworth, and urbina remaining), we get to CHOOSE whether or not we offer them arbitration tonight. if we don't give them arbitration tonight, then the MLB free agent rules kick in and: A) we will be barred from negotiating until may, and B) we won't get draft pick compensation.

got it? it's the same thing, but in pudge's case, we don't have the option to give him arbitration.

if we offer arbitration, we immediately get more time to negotiate with the player. the player is not obligated to accept or decline our offer immediately, and he gets a few more weeks before he has to decide.

if the player declines our arbitration offer and doesn't decide to sign a contract with us, we will be rewarded with draft picks from the team he eventually signs with.

if the player accepts our arbitration offer, he'll return to us the following season and we'll have to pay him whatever the arbiter says.
