August 19, 201610 yr The Marlins remain hopeful that A.J. Ramos (finger) will be ready for activation from the disabled list on Sunday when first eligible. Ramos will test out his fractured right middle finger with a simulated game on Friday. It's hard to imagine that the finger is totally healed already, but evidently the reliever will attempt to pitch through it. Marlins manager Don Mattingly said Thursday that he could use Ramos in a setup role if it looks like the reliever won't be able to handle his normal workload. "If it's going to be every other day or he can't go back-to-back type of situation, that's what we have to find out," Mattingly said. "In that role, you don't want to be flipping guys around all the time." Fernando Rodney has been closing for the Marlins and will continue to do so until Ramos is ready to resume his old job. SOURCE
