Hood mashes lefties, subpar vs righties. 9th in PCL in RBI, 10th in 2Bs. Leads Zs in SLG. Defense is average at best. Has played all three spots but future is at LF. Next to no future in RF unless arm vastly improves.

 

Telis is switch hitting catcher with eligibility at 1B. Good from both sides. Leads Zs in BA. Should've been given an actual chance when called up earlier this year while we were calling up Perez and Kelly and starting CJ every day. Even with Scruggs bursting onto scene, he should still be here over Mathis who somehow still has a job. Long term future is probably as 1B, arm too weak behind plate.

 

 

Telis is doing amazing in AAA this year. He would've been in the majors on most other teams this season. He's suffered terrible misfortune that Realmuto has grown into a franchise catcher (and basically the player Telis could grow into). 

 

Destin Hood absolutely obliterated AAA pitching to start the season, then cooled off and has started to pick back up again recently. He's simply another bench bat to add with the rosters growing. He definitely has potential to be a Justin Ruggiano like surprise player next season.

 

Nefi Ogando we saw recently and isn't all that great as a reliever right now. 

 

Brian Ellington is likely a mainstay in the 'pen next season, and I'm still shocked he got sent down after putting up an ERA under 1 in the majors this season.

All true with the exception of Telis being good on defense if that's what you were getting at. He isnt.

 

Even this year where he is performing very well offensively he is 17 for 67 when throwing runners out. He's a future 1B. Doesn't have much power for a future corner infielder. But his ability to hit from both sides trumps that and makes him extremely easy to get into games. When he finally gets his full shot, he will surprise a lot of people that don't know who he is offensively.

Actually, kinda surprised Gillespie wasn't brought up with Ozuna's injury but I guess Hood takes his spot. Doesn't look good for Gillespie's future if he can't even get a Sept callup on a team he spent like three months on.

I thought that same thing when Bour went down and Scruggs was still a question mark. The FO only agreed for two games.

 

And I agree with you: Telis will be a more patient MLB hitter than Realmuto. They are indeed similar but JT is by far the better defender, which matters as much if not more when evaluating players at that spot. I will say Telis knows how to call pitchers though. He has done a great job in that capacity this year. A team without many standout prospects has the 5th best ERA (4.1) in the hitter friendly PCL
