December 14, 200322 yr :thumbup Brazoban, Weeden In Brown Deal Baseball America's Josh Boyd reports that righthanders Yhency Brazoban and Brandon Weeden are the two Yankees prospects to be included in the pending Kevin Brown-Jeff Weaver trade with the Dodgers. Brazoban, a 23-year-old converted outfielder who throws in the mid-90s, has advanced rapidly since changing positions, reaching Double-A midway through 2003. As a pitcher, he has gone 2-4, 5.23 with 69 strikeouts and 31 walks in 65 innings. Weeden, 20, has moved slowly since being selected in the second round of the 2002 draft. After starting 2003 in the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League, where he went 2-1, 1.73 in 26 innings, he earned a promotion to short-season Staten Island, where he finished 0-2, 3.72 in 19 innings. He has the makings of a good delivery, and scouts believe there's projection to his 89-92 mph four-seam fastball. those are some high quality prospects :thumbup
December 14, 200322 yr Not really. One obviously has control problems and the other is so far away, who knows what will even become of him. I'm happy we held on Navarro- a catcher who's hitting like derek jeter in the minors. He will be starting in 2 years hopefully.

Navarro hit very well in double A. Here's info i get from the jerks at nyyfans.com: Dioner Navarro Games 58 AB 208 Runs 28 Hits 71 2B 15 3B 0 HR 4 RBI 37 BB 18 SO 26 SB 2 CS 3 AVG .341 He's a switch hitter too! Eric Duncan, Wady Rufino, and possibly Cano are bigger prospects in my opinion.

I think Duncan has a shot, but we will trade him first. Navarro however will probably become something and he's progressing at a rate that will allow him to replace posada perfectly.

Soriano is from the system...nick johnson was...Claussen was... if we don't trade these guys the moment they just start playing in the majors, we're not that bad. Well, not as bad as boston anyway. Their homegrown talent in Lowe and Varitek were indeed seattle players sent over from the Heathcliff Slocumb deal in 97. Go Navarro!

Navarro is definitely good though. And nomar? The Yanks meanwhile have on their team Williams, Posada, Soriano, Jeter, and Rivera. We had Pettitte and Nick Johnson until this offseason. The red sox system is indeed worse, though I'm not saying the Yankees are very good, because we have failed to produce a real starter since pettitte.

This is what happens when clubs mortage the future to compete every year. think the Yankees and Red Sox have signed enough Type A free agents they don't have a first round pick until the next millenium. (just kidding, it doesn't exactly work like that.)
