Do you think a system similar to what the NFL has would work in MLB?

Each team has 1 challenge per game. Balls and strikes cannot be challenged. The crew chief would review the play via video. If the call stands as the umpire called it, the challenging team would be charged an extra out that inning.

It could work. I'm sure everyone will bring up the long games and the slow pace of games. But it's not like NFL games really fit into their 3 hour time slots before instant replay, and between all the huddles, playcalling, adjusting of gloves, checking the runner, etc. there's usually a longer break between plays in football than pitches in baseball.

Bad idea, in any format.

anything that changes the way the game is played is bad.

taking away an out changes the way the game is played, it will never pass.

anything that changes the way the game is played is bad.

Kinda like the distance between the pitcher's mound and home plate?

Or players wearing gloves in the field?

Or 3 foul balls not being an out?

Or the designated hitter?

Or free agency?

Or questec?

Or the winner of the all star game gets home field advantage in the world series?

Should I continue?

27 outs is 27 outs.

other things can be changed, but playing with the number of outs and such is one of the things that should never be touched.

all the things you mention are alterations, some of them doing not much about the integrity of the game as its played on the field.

gloves were invented early on in the playing of baseball in order to catch a ball easier and was also a safety feature.

i dont recall a time when 3 foul balls equaled an out.

the DH is a gimmick and while it sucks, all it does is change around the people batting and not batting, eliminating strategy in the process.

free agency does nothing to how the game is played on the field, just hte players there for teams

questec is a stupid way to try and help the umpires call balls and strikes, its meant to be more of a guide and an aid than anything.

the winner of an exhibition game determining home field...well its stupid but again doesnt change the game on the field.

taking away an out because you want to eliminate the human errors....stupid.

thats like taking away a down in football via instant replay.

The game is way too long, and I have seen INSTANT REPLAY miss calls (remember the Pats and the fumble.)

Here's a change...no getting out of the batters box and no stepping off unless there's a runner on base...i don't care how much your balls itch.
