The World is Coming To An End!!!

I had it with the news. I used to watch it all the time, but it just gets me really angry at this point. Why? Because it really does not tell you what is happening, it is either the following:

1. Amazing animal story

2. A provocative question that never gets answered

3. Celebrity bulls***

4. Weather, but not the actual forecast, just them reminding you that it's not snowing out, because you're too lazy to look out the window

5. What's next, later, or sometime in the future on the news

6. Random shootings/fires

7. The world coming to an end

That's the list. It really is not that long, though seven different things seems long, in reality we are so used to this crap we really do not even notice. The news does not really tell you anything new that is important: it is just crap, scare tactics, the newscasters pretending they're ass kicking buddies, and commercials.

First let me address the lack of substance:

"On Tuesday, is your sex life lacking? A new ground breaking story on Viagra can perk things up!"

"Later at 6, can viagra work for women?"

"Later in the news, can the magic blue pill reignite your sex life?"

"Next, viagra, can it affect women's ability to obtain sexual pleasure more so?"

And finally, the story:

"The university study lasted 3 months with ten participants, and it is not yet known whether viagra can or cannot help a woman obtain increased sexual pleasure."

Wow, all of that for something that not only does not really matter, you still do not know the answer! The news lacks in so much substance, people still believe that Saddam and Usama are buddies and they blew up the towers and that there indeed weapons of mass destruction in Iraq...people forget that both issues have been brought up without sufficient evidence and are pretty much lies, but who knows! They are too busy learning about Whoopi Goldberg's facelift, some cat that called 911, or how hair clips are more deadly that one would think.

I am sick and tired of watching something about a school crawling with mildew, 40,000 people dying in an earthquake, and then watch a cute little story about a dog that can jump through a hoop or a children's spelling bee. What the hell, 40,000 people just died and you group that up with obnoxious stupid nonsense? That's insane. Recently, the news barely covered the thousands upon thousands that died in Iran, some news channels in New York did not even cover it! Yet, there was plenty of time for the same typical crap that is so unimportant it just dumbs down our society to even a larger degree.

But people like this stupidity. They like cute stories, phony weather, and phony broadcasters, and they will get what they want! Those 14 minutes of advertisments during a 30 minute news show makes the media conglomerates billions of dollars. Sure, half the news has advertisements during it (when they sneak things in or when Dodge sponsors the weather), but there is never enough money to be had. I'm fine though with this, but if it were not for the fact of the scare tactics the news employs.

Elvis the dog wins the madison square garden dog competition, but first THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END!!! Next.

That's right, beef, Dodge Caravans, airplanes, Chinese people, Black people, CEOs, school shootings, computer viruses, preists, microbes, tiny little countries, asteroids, sewer drains, onions, pillows...they're all highly competent killers of YOU. You can die any second before you know it, because everything in creation is creeping behind a corner waiting to stab you in the back. The news wants to make us scared of everything, via stupid orange alerts from the government, ecoli/mad cow scares, airplane crashes blow out of proportion, stories about imaginary weapon arsenals in tiny countries, and noting every atrocity that can be possibly blamed on the catholic church. Almost all of these things present such an insignificant threat to your life, you might as well be more afraid of driving on the road or walking during a rain storm. But why do they do this? When you are on edge, you watch the news more, and they make more money. Then they will take you in with their animal stories and weather reports...then you are a vegetable!

Of course, with the lack of news also comes a slant. Some networks would have you believe that the democratic party never wanted deficit spending or tax cuts others will tell you that Bush is a damn genius and everything he is doing is because of September 11th. Some will just contradict themselves, call Bush an idiot but never question extensively any of his stupid moves. It can make your head spin.

That's why I rarely watch the news, I wish I got a little more information more often, but it takes time to scan through several sources to find out the truth. Try http://www.spinsanity.org, http://www.israelinewsnow.com, and just look through the liberal and conservative sources.

Just do not watch TV news...it's for entertainment purposes only, like the Ms. Cleo commercials.

I feel you, dude. I am pretty much sick of it too but I still watch it because I like to know what's going on in my city, you know? But other than that, yea, it's annoying. A lot of things you see on the news are bad. You see good reports from time to time. Like this morning, they had a story about an elderly woman who lost her husband in Belgium in what must have been WWII. She had given him a bracelet to wear around his wrist with his name and his tag #. In the back it said, "Love, Ginny". The bracelet was lost when her husband was killed in battle and now someone was hanging around with a metal detector, found it, traced the woman and sent her the bracelet. The woman says that when she dies, she's passing on the bracelet back to the founder.

One thing I am also getting tired of is how the media keeps talking about the bad things that US soldiers do in Iraq (with the exception of the Jessica Lynch story [which is another tired story in itself] and the soldiers who found Saddam...those are good stories). What about those soldiers who help the Iraqi people? I once saw a report on a soldier who would sing and dance with the Iraqi children. I am sure that not all soldiers are so evil and messed up to kill innocent Iraqi people on purpose in cold blood.

It's a shame, really.

The news lately is a great way to brainwash the extremly idiotic people.

"If you don't support the War in Iraq and you drive an SUV, you're driving a 'Saddam Utility Vehicle' and you're a socialist!"

I really wanted to punch the TV when I heard those incredibly stupid idiots say that...

It's amazing, all news is either extremely biased towards the left or right, there is no common ground anymore.

It's really sad, the news used to be a good thing to watch, now it's just a political forum for the most part, and when I watch the news, I want to see what's actually going on without some sort of political spin.

"If you don't support the War in Iraq and you drive an SUV, you're driving a 'Saddam Utility Vehicle' and you're a socialist!"

:lol Saddam Utility Vehicle!.... Only in America man.

The news are not news; like Sorianofan said they're "For entertainment purposes only". I don't take the news seriously, because they always blow everything out of proportion... Specially international news. Do not believe everything they say about Iraq. I can guarantee you that it is not as bad as they make it sound... Hell if I was to listen to everything the news say about my country, I would be on the edge thinking my family is about to die... Every day.
