January 17, 200422 yr Cubs signed RHP Kerry Wood to a one-year, $9.75 million contract. The Cubs are still going to attempt to sign Wood to a multiyear deal, but they wanted to get 2004 taken care of first. Wood will be eligible for free agency after the season if he doesn't sign an extension. Not a big surprise there. Cub's rotation is beginning to look very good again, as well as last year. 9.75 million for 1 year. maybe a little high, but is still worth it for a young gun like Wood.
