January 20, 200422 yr http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1712802 Bank on it AL - Anaheim, New York, Boston NL - Philadelphia, Houston, Chicago For real AL - Oakland, Seattle, Kansas City, Minnesota NL - Atlanta, Arizona, Florida Sleepers AL - Toronto, Chicago NL - San Francisco, St. Louis, Colorado It doesn't look good AL - Baltimore, Tampa NL - Los Angeles, San Diego, Cincinnati, Montreal, New York Wait until 2010 AL - Detroit, Cleveland, Texas NL - Milwaukee, Pirates FLORIDA: A return to the playoffs is a reasonable goal for the World Series champs, who will miss Ivan Rodriguez, Derrek Lee, Ugueth Urbina and Braden Looper. A.J. Burnett's return could provide a lift for a pitching staff still heavy on good, young arms but don't be surprised if Josh Beckett and Dontrelle Willis experience dropoffs. Beckett bears watching after being abused by manager Jack McKeon during his great postseason run. Odd that this isn't brought up about the Cubs starters.
January 20, 200422 yr Dusty has already done so and hurt his pitchers so ESPN doesn't need to tell us...
January 20, 200422 yr they are still thinking about the AJ deal and how he was overused. Now i do think we overused Beckett in the playoffs ... but it is the playoffs its just last shot at it you know.
January 21, 200422 yr Yeah ESPN is stupid or Phil Rogers whoever wrote the article. I mean it was playoffs of course we were going to get everything we could out of him. Plus hes got all of the offseason to rest and gain his strength back. The national media is always trying to put us down. Off topic: Today on Around the Horn Bill Plascke said the Red sox would have won the WS if they had A-Rod. lol Even Michael Holley who writes for the Boston Globe said your crazy Plascke have you heard of the Florida Marlins. National Media= Haters
January 21, 200422 yr Author Whenever I read the 'haters' I hear Damen Wayans (I think it was him) from In Living Color saying it in that stretched out teasing manner.
January 21, 200422 yr People forget that Beckett didn't throw all that many pitches against the yankees, because he threw strikes. However insulting kevin brown for "being good only in his early 30s" is perhaps one of the most absurd things I have heard about a HOF caliber pitcher with a better career than schilling. ESPN are too biased when it comes to praising the cursed teams and popular mangers like Torre and Baker.
January 22, 200422 yr we'll see at the end of the year when Jbeck is 22-4 w/ a 2.94 and a 1.12 :lol .... i like those numbers
