For those who remember watching Who Wants to be a Millionaire on ABC with Reege as host, I just read today that the show is coming back (on ABC) next month for a 5-night run as Super Millionaire. This time around the prize money is upped by 10-fold, making the first Q $1,000 instead of $100, and the final 5 questions will go for $640 K, $1.25 Million, $2.5 Million, $5 Million, and $10 Million. There will probably be a couple of new lifelines to help also.

 

 

I'll admit; I'm a game-show junkie. I even had the first 100 shows on Millionaire on tape. So I'm looking forward to this a lot. I wanna see somebody go for the $10 Million Q and get it right.

I'm excited about the upcoming series, but I'm also a purist (for the most part) when it comes to formats. I wish the game would return in its original form, without the extra lifelines and the $10,000,000 prize. The syndicated ratings are just fine without the 10M prize - I still think people would watch it that way. It will also be a special treat to see Regis back where he belongs, instead of Meredith Viera.

Most definitely. These short "bursts" are what have kept the original British show scheduled since its premiere in 1998. WWTBAM single handedly saved ABC's ratings for a while, but it fizzled out after a while. This new scheduling is sure to keep interests high.

You can be sure the questions will be ramped up...no "Which presidend once said Sock It To Me on Laugh-In?" questions (and this one was worth the million for John Carpenter).

I thought this show got discontinued like that other with the links.

It was put on "hiatus," which for vitrtually any other show is as good as being cancelled. Many of us game show fans felt that a new run would be tried sometime, and it seemed we were right. The syndicated "Weakest Link" was cancelled.

ABC's got another prime-time game show coming, this one from Australia. Called "Deal or No Deal", someone could win up to $2 Million. A little trivia, a lot of suspense in the final round, and a bunch of cash up for grabs.
