If my dad was going to vote Kerry, I wouldn't vote kerry because he did. I would vote for which ideology I want pressed on...which values I believe in. If you are just voting for who your parents vote for, and they are just voting for bush for no reason as well, it only perpetuates the stupidity.

Ok... No need to get on anyone's case about their respective likes and dislikes. I don't like Bush, for all the reasons stated here. But if someone likes him for any other reason, please don't insult their intelligence. We don't need to resort to using insults to prove our point Sorianofan.

No, I'm not insulting him for liking Bush. I question the intelligence of ANYONE who votes for reasons NOT regarding the issues. Its everyone here's duty as an american to get to know the issues. When it is blatantly obvious our current president is a liar, how can one vote for him?

Every american should vote and every american should get to know the issues. If you are too lazy, get the hell out, because a honest and good democracy requires this from its citizens.

check out the thread about that website that shows who's beliefs match up with yours the best. Bush came out 100%.

they have their reasons...

well, i'm probably going to vote for bush since i'm not particularly fond of kerry.

reasons why people vote for bush:

1) tax cuts, including taxes on income, capital gains, estate, and dividends

2) stronger markets

3) tort reform on malpractice lawsuits

4) superior national security (i support the patriot act, btw)

5) stronger businesses and industries

6) tougher on crime

7) supports better "family values"

8) supports the place of religion in public institutions

9) more powerful military

10) wants to privatize social security, thereby making it more efficient

11) holding schools accountable for poor performance

12) school vouchers

The quiz asks nothing concerning a balanced budget (are you against that?) and obviously to get bush 100, you need to approve of the war in Iraq, which requires a highly ignorant mind as well.

Reasons why people shouldn't vote for Bush:

1) Tax cut policy deepens the economic deficit. It only benefits a few, the rest of us (middle-class and low income families) never saw a dime of those famous tax cuts.

2) Stronger Markets for foreign industrialized countries. Responsible policy is the key here.

3) Malpractice issues is also strong on Kerry's agenda.

4) Superior National Security (Patriot Act). Invading another country and pissing off future generations of very radical Arabs, doesn't seem as very well thought out plan for National Security.

5) Stronger businesses and Industries. Hmmm I guess we haven't heard of job losses and job migration issues.

6) Tougher on crime. Strong on any other candidate agenda, without hindering the right to privacy and human rights.

7) Supports better family values. Family values are not promoted by the President or the media; it comes from each of us. Just because he seems like a good husband doesn't make him a good president.

8) Supports the place of religion in public institutions. This is wrong. I am 100% catholic and I think Government and religion should never be mixed. Otherwise, we would have a "radical" christian government. This country was founded to escape religious persecution and one of it principles is that "Church and State" should be separate.

9) More powerful military. Why do we need powerful military? As far as I know, there is no country on earth that can withstand USA military. We don't need to spend more money on weapons that cannot kill people like Bin Laden. Fighting terrorism requires a little more than advanced military technology. Better intelligence maybe.

10) Privatization of Social Security. I don't have an opinion on this one.

11) Holding Schools Accountable for poor performance. How about investing more money in education and public schools, so they don't have to resort to hire morons for teachers???? Bush is for cutting education funds.

12) School Vouchers. No opinion

1) tax cuts, including taxes on income, capital gains, estate, and dividends

Yeah, some people like tax cuts. My Dad's business loves them! Investors love the dividends tax cut.

2) stronger markets

Yes, there are people who agree with free trade, and I can see where they are coming from (though I don't necessarily agree.)

3) tort reform on malpractice lawsuits

Yes, that was a good move. About damn time.

4) superior national security (i support the patriot act, btw)

Yes, the patriot act helps law enforcement very much so, I also support it. However, I don't support bureaucratic increases (such as dept. homeland security.) When bureaucracy gets larger, it only gets more inefficient, and bureaucratic inefficiency is what helped NOT prevent september 11th, so some of bush's move concerning securitiy are questionable.

5) stronger businesses and industries

Initially yes, the tax cuts after a little while do help investment into business. However, massive deficits and foreign competition combined can destroy us in the future. So again, highly questionable.

6) tougher on crime

What can the president do about crime? He's not governor anymore, he can't fry people (which I am in support of.)

7) supports better "family values"

If supporting family values means mentioning "God" all the time and not accepting blow jobs from hogs, then yes he's supporting "family values." However, the way he lies and bombed Iraq for no reason DO NOT support family values.

8) supports the place of religion in public institutions

For those who wish to impose their religion on other people, this is certainly a reason to vote for him. He doesn't want to give gays equal rights either. Though I really don't care too much about public prayer, christmas trees, ten commandments, and ect, I do find his stance on homosexuals distrubing.

9) more powerful military

Yes. If you a pro more joint strike fighters, he's your man. However, is such a large military necessary if we don't bomb other countries for no reason? Is a missile shield practical at this point? The point of a large military is safety (and asserting will), and other bush policies make me feel less safe, so the relative tradeoff of someone else who can make us more safe for less money is the better buy if you ask me.

10) wants to privatize social security, thereby making it more efficient

So now the Bush supported cares about efficiency? Anything that makes social security cheaper is good (if it were up to me it would be abolished.) However, to say "I support bush because he will make SS more efficient" is only tru if you include, "and also he makes the military less efficient, increases bureaucracy, and spends high amounts of tax cuts while running incredible deficits." This seems like two different values in direct opposition if you ask me.

11) holding schools accountable for poor performance

Yeah, some people support increased standardized testing. IF you are in this camp, you are happy with the increased bureaucratic responsibilites that result from the No Child LEft Behind program. However, it has been assessed that increased standardized testing decreases scores on more broad testing like the SAT. The overall result of "increased accountability" is a more narrow curriculum, and thus dumber students. So if you are pro dumb students, support "accountibility."

12) school vouchers

This is a matter of personal taste. If you a for it, vote for this man, though this is a state issue and Bush cannot do much about it. PErsonally I'm against vouchers because I believe it just makes the system as a whole more inefficient.

Other good things Bush did: Bombed Afghanistan probably killed Bin Laden and withdrew from Kyoto Treaty, which would of never passed congress anyhow.

The bad for outweighs the good. If you are pro increased spending, throwing america's future away, increased foreign entanglements, increased foreign competition, increased lying, fabriaction of evidence for wars, tax cuts, standardized testing, lawsuit caps, and choking on pretzels instead of interns choking on his pretzel then vote Bush.

I would rather not.

i support the war in Iraq. The world is a better place. But this is not the right thread to discuss the war.

That reveals your intelligence.

ummm...ok? Are you trying to insult me because I support Bush's foreign policy in Iraq.

Dammit...let me change my mind then! :banghead

If anyone votes bush, they're a friggin' moron. Ignorant, stupid, 100% dumbass. That's all I have to say.

Wow....

just because of that comment, I am now DEFINITELY voting FOR Bush.

So am I a "friggin' moron"?? I think i've proven otherwise already.

Sheesh, that comment illustrates a level of ignorance that is beyond amazing.

personally, i support bush on #2-6 and #9-11.

overall, i dislike him because of his crazy spending, the ballooning bureaucracy, his crappy foreign policy, and the deficits incurred because of the tax cuts.

that should make it easy to vote against him, right?

nope.

kerry isn't going to repeal the whole bush tax cut because he's too busy trying to win the primary, so instead he's only going to raise taxes on the wealthy, effectively shifting the tax burden in this country even more. i'd rather keep all of the tax cuts than change the tax dynamic.

the tax cuts on estate and dividends are crucial. the estate tax was illegal to begin with, and any president who reinstitutes dividends taxes is going to see the stock market plummet.

kerry is going to increase the spending and the bureacracy (much like bush). like hell he's going to be able to balance the budget.

kerry is weaker on national security.

kerry's solution to the malpractice crisis does effectively nothing. i won't fault him personally, but my biggest beef with the democratic party is the fact that they are controlled so heavily by the interests of trial lawyers. since malpractice is probably one of the most important issues to me personally, i'd be very hard pressed to vote for someone who isn't going to fight to fix the problem.

in essence, this election will be bush vs. bush lite. i'll take bush for many of the reasons above.

kerry is weaker on national security.

As are all the other democrats, which is exactly why in reality, there is no way i'm going to vote a democrat for president until they prove to me that they can handle the national security at a level equivilent to or exceeding the republicans.

I like Lieberman's stance on the Iraq situation.

Sheesh, that comment illustrates a level of ignorance that is beyond amazing. To vote Bush out of spite doesn't make you stupid. It just makes you dangerously spiteful.

Overall, Bush's presidency has been absolutely horrible. How he is popular is beyond me. So no, what I said was not ignorant. Supporting a man who had evidence for a war fabricated is ignorant.

kerry is going to increase the spending and the bureacracy (much like bush). like hell he's going to be able to balance the budget.

kerry is weaker on national security.

Who spent more on bureaucracy, Clinton or Bush? Clinton came in promising universal healthcare! To say that Kerry won't overspend when Bush openly does is crazy.

Bush is among the weakest presidents on national security ever, using needed resources overseas that we should of never had to use. Now we have to deal with it, and that should give Bush a F in national security (okay, bit of an exaggeration, but you get the point.)
