February 6, 200422 yr just saw it....David Samson was interviewed and said that if a new stadium WITH a ROOF is not built that the Marlins would relocate.
February 6, 200422 yr I don't blame him either but if it's a scare tactic -- it won't have much effect anyway.
February 6, 200422 yr no offense, but i thought it was obvious that no new stadium meant no team in the future. also, its not that easy. the expos are supposedly moving every season for the last few years
February 6, 200422 yr i think he is stating fact. remember montreal has to get an ownership group in place before they could move.
February 6, 200422 yr Did anyone else see the report. I would be shocked if Samson used the ultimatum of "roof or else" especially with Fan Fest 2 days away. Threatening to leave never helps ticket sales (which is what the whole point of Fan-Fest is). I can't blame them for wanting what's necessary and best for the team, but I still maintain that the Marlins will stay here because Loria and Samson could have moved the Expos much easier, and that they still seem to think that Miami is the best place for them because they've negotiated exclusively with the city of Miami (at least publicly)...
