February 9, 200422 yr he's comin to the Handlebar in Greenville next Friday....i'm definitely there. Anyone else like Ricky Skaggs?
February 9, 200422 yr I like him, but I don't think I can drive that far....Unfortunately, many country singers don't make it this far south.... :mad : Usually, if they make it to South Florida, they'll go to West Palm, and I hate driving 2 hours to see a concert....
February 9, 200422 yr I've never listened to Ricky Skaggs MiamiSpartans right, they rarely, come down to miami to perform. Me and My Family had to drive all the way up to Estero to catch an Alan Jackson concert and than farther up to Orlando to catch Jimmy Buffett on another trip. Although Jimmy does frequently do shows in Miami. I'm gonna check out some of this Rick Skaggs stuff on Kazaa
February 9, 200422 yr Author i feel your pain....I lived my first 18 years in Florida...although people often times come to Orlando, or Kissimmee, or Daytona. My parents recently saw Alan Jackson and Joe Nichols in Kissimmee. The beauty of being in a place like Greenville is that it is by no means a big city (thank God), but they get a lot of B-list musicians, and sometimes higher, sometimes lower. Ive seen George Strait in the Bi-Lo Center (Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith, etc go there too), but I like to go to intimate places like the Handlebar, where I can see, along with about only 100 more people bands like Drive-by Truckers, Cast Iron Filter, Needtobreathe, etc. Bands that are great, but aren't on CMT/MTV/etc. Ricky Skaggs...awesome banjoist, and has a great bluegrass voice. I'm excited.
February 9, 200422 yr Author Skaggs does bluegrass...my favorite song by him is "The Simple Life"....download it...it's amazing
February 9, 200422 yr Author actually its not. It's bluegrass. Difference. Bluegrass definitely puts more emphasis on music, and not lyrics/voice.
February 10, 200422 yr I'm a big fan of Rhonda Vincent and her band. We get NO bluegrass concerts down here. I think there is a small festival in Broward, but it gets very little press, and no national acts come to it. The only country acts that get here are pop by the time they schedule a concert. Garth, Faith, Tim, Shania... I like them all, and have front row seats for Shania, but they aren't country any longer IMO....
February 10, 200422 yr The Handlebar. Ah yes. I remember it well. Matchbox 20 played a show with 3rd Eye Blind there in 1997. Awesome show. And Greenville does get a lot of good concerts and such. saw Kid Rock, Dixie Chicks, Bon Jovi, Kiss, and numerous WWE events just to name a few while I was there. Greenville rules man. And hopefully someday soon i'll be on my way back, thumping the best moving song of all time, "Country Roads" by Mr, John Denver. That song hits me hard.
February 11, 200422 yr Author amazing song indeed. Acutally, I found out last nite that I will NOT go see Ricky Skaggs. As much as I want to, KA has a party that nite, and I gotta sober drive. Plus, tickets are 29 bucks....I'll spend that to watch him at the Grand Ole Opry (which I do plan on doing).
