February 15, 200422 yr baseball all star game so there is the derby but i was thinking of something like a fastest man around the bases contest and a best(most accurate arm) from the OF contest and things like this i think the fans would dig this Id love to see Ichiro, JP, Furcal and Beltran go as fast as they can from home to home any other ideas? thoughts?
February 15, 200422 yr Anything to spice up the game without taking away its integrity is a good idea. Putting on a "skills" type competition other than the HR contest would be awesome. Maybe a "hit to specific field/spot/ contest would also be cool.

February 16, 200422 yr but i like the rooks and sophomores game Eh. The Futures Game they do is better than that would be. They just need to put it in a better timeslot and actually make it a big deal, it's cool seeing those guys.
February 16, 200422 yr pickoff move contest is kinda weak. I mean, your really getting into the finer details of baseball. I like the "hit to a specific part of the field" idea, but I dont know how it would really work. Woudl you use a pitching machine, a pitcher (like Derbys) pitchin 60 mph, or someone pitchin real life.

February 16, 200422 yr some really good ideas here, though i don't really like the injury contest ones. some sort of speed competition is cool of course. i also like the target practice idea--like how the nfl does. maybe these things could be incorporated into some sort of skills obstacle course-type competition? perhaps the target practice idea could also work for pitchers, again like nfl QBs. maybe have them toss pitches into holes in some cardboard cutout? eh, now that i think of it, it sounds kinda impractical...
February 16, 200422 yr how about a weight lifting competition, so we can see who's steroids works the best? or a 100 yard dash. A pitcher throws a pitch at mike piazza and if you run away fast enough to a vehicle 100 yards away without getting clobbered, you go to the next round. There, you throw a pitch at Pedro Guerrerro and if you avoid a bat hitting you in the head, you go to the next round. Lastly, you hit robin ventura and who ever knocks him out by punching him in the head with the least punches wins!
