February 22, 200422 yr Hey FishFan It sure has been a LONG offseason...am glad to be back on here with the BEST fans in baseball and the BEST team in baseball...Let's go Marlins :hanged :boo-woo O YEAH! the thing that stinks though is that I am 13 with no $$$ so I cannot go to Opening Day. I am gonna watch it alone in my room. Or maybe I can not watch it at all since I will probably be forced to go to school. DAMN IT!. Life is just not fair.
February 22, 200422 yr Author For me it's not fair because I live in Arizona and can't go to Marlins Opening Day LOL I don't get to see the Marlins on tv except for when the Diamondbacks, Cubs, or Braves play them, or they are shown on ESPN.

There must be something you can to convince your parents to let you play hooky that day - get your homework from your teachers ahead of time, do a project at school for extra credit, do extra chores around the house and really do them (hey I'm a parent lolol) - something that at the least gets you the day off. A little hint - kiss butt big time and negotiate your deal early. Don't wait until the last week. They don't want to listen you complaining for the next month and a half. Good luck.
February 22, 200422 yr thanks alot....isn't it already sold out though. Plus I need money to go and I need a escort. That sucks my parents do not trust me alot. I mean it's not like I am gonna get kidnapped at a marlin game you know. If I go I will never lie again. I will be a good son. I will do good in school. PLEASE LORD ANSWER MY PRAYER!!!! :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy

February 22, 200422 yr Most Digital Cable and DirecTV subscribers can get MLB Extra Innings from InDemand Sports or DirecTV Sports.
February 22, 200422 yr Most Digital Cable and DirecTV subscribers can get MLB Extra Innings from InDemand Sports or DirecTV Sports. I'm thinking about buying that this year since I have digital cable. Last year I was wishing I had it.
February 22, 200422 yr They should have a free preview at the start of the season. Check out http://www.indemand.com/ for Digital Cable package details. Check out http://www.directvsports.com/ for DirecTV package details.
February 22, 200422 yr Cape, any news on if the phillies home broadcast network will be carried on DTV this year or anytime soon? we get Comcast for baltimore but not for philly its wierd...
February 22, 200422 yr Comcast Sportsnet in Philly will most likely never be on the package because MLB won't force Comcast to give DirecTV or InDemand a signal. The only way is if the FCC loophole that allows Comcast to get away with keeping CSN Philly cable-only by not distributing it by satellite but by microwave is closed and Comcast in Philly along with Cox in San Diego are forced to attempt to sale their CSN Philly and Channel 4 San Diego channels to Dish and DirecTV. Comcast Sportsnet Baltimore used to be owned by CBS under the name Home Team Sports (HTS) and was distributed by satellite when Comcast bought it so that is why it must be made available to Dish and DirecTV along with the package. Again, this may change if the FCC finally tells the Phillies/Comcast and Padres/Cox that they will be forced to sell their channels to sat companies. Congress may also close the loophole for good by law, but this has yet to be seen.
February 22, 200422 yr If you live in Miami-Ft. Lauderdale or Palm Beach markets, the Marlins TV Package is excellent. You get 55 games on free tv and 95 games on Fox Sports Net via cable or satellite. But once you leave that area, you don't get the 55 free tv game and in areas of the state with cable companies in wars with Rainbow Media (FSN Florida's owner), none of the 95 FSN games. The Expos, Blue Jays, Pirates, Indians, Reds, and Padres are cable only. The Twins cable channel has virtually no subscribers in the Twin Cities and the Astros are suing Fox. The Marlins and D-Rays are happily on Fox Sports Net Florida through the end of the decade and Fox runs the teams television networks with the teams buying time on PAX and Fox producing the games and selling ads.
February 22, 200422 yr those 55 pax games kill me not being in fla i'm in florida, but they still kill me. Pax has not gotten a station, cable system or a dish system to pick up their games outside of Mia-Fort Lauderdale and the Palm Beaches. I may have to start investigating getting one of those big ugly dishes to get those games. Amazingly enough they are free and in the clear on C Band which is how PAX 35 and 67 get the game from the Marlins TV Network/FSN.
February 22, 200422 yr anybody found WQAM's miserable Marlins spring training schedule? The UM-Marlins game in Jupiter will be on WVUM-FM 90.5 and WVUM.org online for free.
February 22, 200422 yr so if i was to one day get a C band i could actually pick up the games from PAX even if im not in florida?
February 22, 200422 yr so if i was to one day get a C band i could actually pick up the games from PAX even if im not in florida? I would think so. Ask the mod from Portland. They have a Big Dish.

I'm thinking about buying that this year since I have digital cable. Last year I was wishing I had it. I actually did buy it one year, but Tallahassee was a blackout area for the Marlins. Which didnt make sense because I am closer to Atlanta than Miami AND fans in Miami - who should have been encouraged to go to games - got to see the games on TV eventhough the games werent sold out! MLB is terrible when it comes to being fan friendly, but then again, that is why Cape is here. Our hero...

I hate how there is a double use of the same network. Why wouldnt one of these teams opt to be on Sunshine? Sunshine, of course, carries both Heat and Magic games, but only broadcasts Heat in S. Fl. and everywhere else in the state Magic. Which sucks being a Heat fan in Tallahassee. The same with the Marlins - I am sure Fox Sports Net has a similar MO. But we dont even get FSN on Comcast up here in Tally...arrgghh...cant wait to move to Chicago where, ironically, I can see all the Marlins games on MLB package - which I will most assuredly buy...
February 22, 200422 yr Sunshine lowballed both baseball teams and is paying for it. They have NO ratings during the summer. Sunshine barely wanted to air games for the Marlins and scoffed at the Devil Rays. So when Wayne bought SportsChannel Florida, now FSN Florida, he brought the Marlins over long term and gave the D-Rays part ownership in exchange for the long term rights. The deal has worked out for both teams but some renegade cable systems like Bright House of Central Florida and Comcast of Tallahassee do not have deals with FSN Florida because they claim it will raise bills and FSN refuses to be sold as a digital a la carte channel because it will cut into the revenue FSN and the teams have a right to make. The solution is that if your cable co. doesn't have FSN Florida and you want FSN now and you live within the state of Florida, you must subscribe to Dish Network or DirecTV. I prefer cable personally, but Time Warner of Cape Coral isn't out to where I live yet. Luckily when they get out here, they already offer FSN Florida. I currently have Dish Network which is pretty good, but cable has the nice cable modems which would be the reason I would switch to Time Warner when they come out here.
