Posted February 23, 200420 yr Here are their stances: Foreign Policy: Foreign aid is not a constitutionally mandated function of government; phase it out immediately. Heed George Washington's warning about entangling alliances: withdraw from NATO and other treaty commitments undermining U.S. sovereignty. Establish a means whereby all existing treaty obligations are judged on the basis of their constitutionality. Defense: Armed neutrality in the tradition of Switzerland. Oppose all attempts, either through treaty or "executive agreements" to force U.S. military personnel to serve under foreign flags. Immigration: Make a more vigorous effort to staunch the flow of illegal immigration. Support a temporary moratorium on legal immigration except in extenuating circumstances, such as hardship cases. Congress: Our Founding Fathers envisioned a Senate appointed by state legislatures as a vital safeguard of state sovereignty. Therefore, repeal the 17th Amendment and return the power of electing U.S. senators to state legislatures. Abolish congressional pensions. Eliminate congressional salaries and return to the "per diem" basis for remunerating lawmakers. Repeal all laws that delegate legislative powers to regulatory agencies and other federal bureaus. States Rights: As a common agent employed by the people of the states, the federal government is empowered to carry out only those duties specifically delegated to it by the states. All other powers are reserved to the states and to the people. The Southern Party will work vigorously and tirelessly to restore to the people of the states all rights reserved to them by the Constitution. The Southern Party View on the 2000 Presidential Race: http://www.southernpartysc.com/presidency.htm I'm just givin a link because it's long. South as an Independent Nation: The American South, culturally the most distinct region of the United States and once an independent nation, has the population and the economy to form one of the most powerful nations on earth. A Southern nation composed of only the eleven States of the former Confederate States of America, (i.e. Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia), would have 74 million people, the thirteenth most populous in the world. It would have more people than France or Britain, and almost as many as the united Germany. In economic power, a Southern nation composed of the above eleven States would have the fourth largest gross domestic product (1990) figures, after the remainder of the United States, Japan, and Germany. A Southern nation could be larger or smaller than the above eleven States. The Census Bureau defines the South as the former Confederate States, plus Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Oklahoma, with the District of Columbia thrown in. Politically, however, the South is best defined as the eleven Confederate States, plus Kentucky and Oklahoma. This is the South as defined by the Congressional Quarterly. The Census Bureau and Congressional Quarterly Souths each have the largest population and gross domestic product of the four major U.S. regions. Even the eleven State old Confederate South has more people than any other major U.S. region, and a gross domestic product larger than that of the Midwest or the West and essentially even with that of the Northeast. A Southern nation composed of ten of the historic Confederate States, all except Texas, unique in a number of ways, would have 56 million people (about the size of France, Italy, and the United Kingdom), and the sixth largest gross domestic product of the nations of the earth. Without Florida also, a State with many Northern migrants, a nine-State South would retain 43 million people and have a gross domestic product not much below that of the United Kingdom. Even the five States of the Deep South, (Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and South Carolina), alone have 22 million people, not far below that of Canada and four million more than Australia. Their gross domestic product is roughly in league with that of Canada, Brazil, and Spain. those are a few I'll post more later
February 23, 200420 yr Author lol....gun control is funny... Gun Control: It is precisely because the federal government and the two major parties cannot be trusted to obey and defend the Constitution that many Southerners are now considering a political divorce from the United States for the first time in over a century. We need to start placing the blame on criminals and not on inanimate objects. Whatever happened to personal responsibility? The Southern Party stands foursquare in defense of the right to keep and bear arms. We do not believe in any form of gun control, except the ability to hit one?s target with a high degree of accuracy. The tragedy?s of the most recent past were the result of a sick culture of liberalism, not an over availability of guns. These sorts of tragedies did not happen prior to the ascendancy of the counter culture to mainstream status in this country. Any government that would infringe the citizen?s right to keep and bear arms is a government that no longer deserves the allegiance of its citizens. The attempt of Clinton to ramrod more gun control laws through the Congress at this time is a cynical abuse of national tragedies and a blatant attack on the 2nd Amendment. The Republican flight to the tall grass during the gun control vote is yet more evident that the GOP cannot be trusted to defend your 2nd Amendment right. If you have had it with the gutless wonders of the Republican party, you should join the Southern Party today. We should not even have restrictions on so called "assault weapons." In 1776 an "assault weapon" was a flintlock musket. If our ancestors had not had access to the assault weapons of their day, they could not have resisted the tyranny of King George III. Assault weapons are not the problem, as any Swiss citizen can clearly attest to. In Switzerland, every able bodied man of military age has a government issued rifle in his home and the ammunition for it, but the children don?t go to school with Dad?s assault rifle and mow down their friends. WHY? Because Switzerland is a country with a civilized culture, something we have lost in this country as the influence of God has gone out of the mainstream culture.
February 23, 200420 yr HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Texas would never join that. Eliminate Texas and that 'economy' is rather weak.
February 23, 200420 yr Author Umm...I dont see ANY states joining it. It's definitely a minority of the state, and probably has a few hundred to maybe a thousand members. Just like there is the Southern Party of SC, there is also the Southern Independence Party of Texas.... http://www.sipoftexas.org/index.asp
February 23, 200420 yr yeah, if i remember correctly, texas independence was much more popular than SC independence ever was. :cowboy kooks
February 23, 200420 yr the texas independence movement is probably about 1 million times more popular.
February 23, 200420 yr Author SC independence movement began with the nullifications enacted by John C. Calhoun in the 1830s. As for Texas? Who cares!
February 23, 200420 yr Author P.S. I'll give a hearty congratulations to whoever can figure out what that symbol on my sig is...hint: its a flag....of what?
February 23, 200420 yr Author intelligent guess, adam. But no: it's not "south carolina crap". It does pertain to the South.
February 23, 200420 yr Author it's a really cool flag that people don't know too much about. I bet yall think I'm pro-secession, btw.
February 23, 200420 yr intelligent guess, adam. But no: it's not "south carolina crap". It does pertain to the South. so i was right. you take a shot at texas. i take a shot at south carolina. kinda like a game of give and take.
February 23, 200420 yr Author Ok. It's the Florida secession flag. It's a pretty badass lookin flag. It says something like "Defending the rights of the South at all Hazards". The Bonnie Blue was also originally a Florida Flag.
February 23, 200420 yr Author intelligent guess, adam. But no: it's not "south carolina crap". It does pertain to the South. so i was right. you take a shot at texas. i take a shot at south carolina. kinda like a game of give and take. alright. I'll buy that. Only steers and queers come from Texas. :mischief http://smilies.jeeptalk.org
February 23, 200420 yr Author Cause Texas is bigger and has more people. And cuz Strom is dead. Don't mess with Strom.
February 23, 200420 yr what a stupid party. Especially these positions. Oh let's make the federal government even LESS democratic, and the view on immigration is hypocritical, because we are all immigrants. And then there's the whole seceding from the union thing. if you guys try it again we'll blow you into next year.
February 23, 200420 yr Author why would the Union feel they must get violent? I mean, isn't the South looked at as inferior anyway? I mean, we're just some dumb, stupid hicks. Why not just let us go out on our own and suck at being a country? I mean, that's pretty much what the northern public felt last time. I'm not defending or advocating the Southern Party. But state legislatures should be the ones to vote for the Senators. Hell, I want senators that are at least from the state! Nowadays, senators aren't even from the state they represent.

Nowadays, senators aren't even from the state they represent. yeah, but if state legislature vote, you would see bill gates as the senator from washington. and yeah, we can't let you secede because we need dumb southern hicks as bullet shields in future conflicts. but really, america is strongest as a unified whole, and i love america...or at least the benefits of being part of it.
February 23, 200420 yr Author like I said, im not defending secession, or arguing against it. I just found a lot of their stances interesting. And I dont think we would see Bill Gates as senator. In the end, the senator's performance will dictate if he'll be elected. Senators being elected by state legislation puts more power to the state, which I know you are against. But I, and many Southerners still feel that that was the basis of our country...federalism. I feel like I will get represented better in my state than in my country.
February 23, 200420 yr Aside from the state versus national power debate, the truth is that the senate became dubbed "the millionaires club" because rich guys would bribe state legislatures and get in. Even though rich guys through campaign contributions and kick backs get what they want done, making something a popular election makes such representatives more responsible to their constituents, thus your state and our country. To be honest, i don't care what state my representative is from. I care about the issues and which politician is a lesser screwball. That's why I hate hillary, not because she's a carpetbagger.
