Oh Well, let's turn our attention to...
I would bring AJ out of the bullpen way before Pavano, AJ is not going to be nearly as effective as he was before the injury/surgery. As far as Pavano, he was our most consistant pitcher all year and he was only 2nd to Beckett in postseason greatness. On a good day, I'd put him above both Maddux and Penny. I do see Maddux moving up as our #2 pitcher tho, i just put him at #4 because its only the right thing to do after the great postseasons of Pavano and Penny. That was just the proposed opening day roster.

I think adding Mondesi and Maddux for a yr. instead of spending 13 million on just Vlad is actually a better idea. Proposed Depth Chart Line-Up/Postions Players CF Juan Pierre/Abraham Nunez 2B Luis Castillo/Mike Mordecai/Wilson Valdez LF Miguel Cabrera/Jeff Conine/Lenny Harris 3B Mike Lowell/Miguel Cabrera/Lenny Harris 1B Jeff Conine/Hee Seop Choi RF Raul Mondesi/Miguel Cabrera/Abraham Nunez C Mike Redmond/Ramon Castro SS Alex Gonzalez/Wilson Valdez/Mike Mordecai Starters 1. Miami says no to land or money to help build stadi
i think making it to the Stanley Cup in 96 is considered their best season still, forget points. Just like last yr. was the Marlins best season even tho they had more wins in 97.

Miami says no to land or money to help build stadi
i dont trust those city and county officals down in Miami, they are currupt. I lived in Miami, i lived 10 minutes from Pro Player (at that time Joe Robbie). I just dont want this team leaving South Florida, ill be happy as long as they get a Stadium deal somewhere down here. Put them in Homestead for all i care, as long as they get a retractible roof i feel they will have good size crowds. Maybe even build the Stadium accross from Pro Player. Share the parking, who knows.

Orlando can't support their one pro team anyway. The Magic have horrible Fans now and they will prob be moving out of Orlando soon. I like Broward as a prime sports town. The Western portions of the County are very up and coming still and there is a strong Commerical presence to support teams. The Panthers do prettygood considering the size of their Arena, win or lose (and they havent won since their Miami Arena days) they get pretty good support for HOCKEY in South Florida. A Western Broward location could keep the current fan base and possiblely increase it by getting more Coral Springs and West Boca Raton fans to jump on the Sawgrass like they do for Panther games. If not in Western Broward, then somewhere near the water in Downtown Ft. Lauderdale.

That was bc the Heat and American Airlines put up a lot of the money. That Arena was only $100 sumthing million, a stadium like the Marlins need is 3-4 times more money then that, plus Loria is not Mickey Arison as far as wealth. Any rate that Arena deal is killing the Heat, they are losing money like crazy and finanically would have been better off never building it and staying in Miami Arena, which is just being wasted a block away. I agree there is a very strong fan base still in Miami, but is there more of a fan base in South Miami to N. Miami or from North Miami to Palm Beach?

MIAMI politicians and city officials are full of SH!T thats why the deal is dead. They jumped on the bandwagon way more then any of the South Florida fans, and as soon as they hype died down, they killed the deal. I hope this team moves up north to Broward or Palm Beach Co, where a major source of Season Ticket holders are, and a more respectible fan base.

Benitez Or Williamson
Williamson, who saved 21 games in half a season for Cincinnati last season, is a favorite of manager Jack McKeon, who had the pitcher when he led the Reds. Williamson, who was traded to Boston in July, is the odd man out in a Red Sox bullpen that includes Mike Timlin, Alam Embree and recently acquired closer Keith Foulke, and the team is interested in trading Williamson....The Red Sox reportedly have asked the Marlins for left-hander Mark Redman, a 14-game winner last season who also has drawn trade feelers from Oakland. http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/sport...all/7501701.htm

Rockies release former Marlin....
I think Wilson Valdez will be our speed guy/extra utility infielder. He put up good numbers in the minors and has pretty good speed. Forget Ozuna, the guy lied about his age, we shouldnt give him another chance, we were lucky to dump him last yr in the Hampton deal.

Benitez Or Williamson
McKeon likes Williamson alot from his Reds days. He knows what he can do as a starter as well as in the ben. I think he'd be a great 5th starter for us while AJ comes back, then we can use him in the pen. I think he respects McKeon enough as McKeon respects him he will have no problem with that. I think forget about Benitiez unless we don't get Vlad, and i think we have a small chance of resigning Looper for less than arbitration. If not he's gone. Oh well.
