Being gay is "in" in like Hollywood, New York, Miami, San Francisco and Columbus, Ohio (2nd largest gay population in the nation) but as far as the rest of the 85% of the country is concerned being gay is something to be ashamed about. Let's face it, we're on the cusp here. We're forward thinking individuals with the internet who live in high population areas (just a guess for most of us). What about all those places where they don't see homos every day? Where all they know is white, christian and straight? They're bound to be somewhat biased about it. Hollywood doesn't help by portraying gay chic as something cool and fashionable (granted, I commend them at least for putting it in there). It's a double edged sword. And CFDodgeMarlins, all you have to do is look at those old polls on whether or not gays should marry. If being gay is so "cool" then people wanting gays to marry wouldn't have been in the minority (it was usually about 35 for gay marriage). 572577[/snapback] :goodpost

I can honestly say there is no definitive answer. I know some girls who are lesbians by choice and who could honestly swing either way, but choose the ladies more than the men. But, then again there are people who are predisposed towards homosexuality. I was watching tv the other night and happened to come across America's Next Top Model, and you can't honestly tell me that guy (you know the one) wasn't born gay. He's naturally predisposed towards femininity (not that all gays are feminine). To say it's a choice, like Bobby wears a dress because he chooses to isn't that easy. Some people are genetically predisposed towards homosexuality. Chris Rock said it best when he said, "He didn't TURN gay. He was ALWAYS gay. Back in the day when you were kids, you were playing football and he was jumping rope. He didn't turn gay, he was gay THEN!" I think with about 90% of homos it's safe to say they're genetically predisposed (again those words) to being gay. Now, of course there are those who are afraid to come out because it's "something to be ashamed of" (although, to hear CFDodgeMarlins talk it's hip to be gay; I would argue not in all cases). There are bound to be gays afraid to come out of the closet and straight people doing it to rebel (worst case scenario). To say it's one or the other would be foolish. The world isn't black and white enough to say they either A) ALL choose to be gay or B) are all born gay. I'm saying both are the case, but in my experience I find that a lot of homosexuals are born gay and a lot of people who "choose" to be gay had always been gay from the beginning (not in all cases, 100%). 572554[/snapback] :goodpost
