  1. Unfortunately, Meetup charges $12/month to organize a group!! Don't think I'm willing to fork over that much for such a small group—but I'll find a way!!
  2. You might have to nucleate it yourself. Maybe start a group at Meetup.com, Facebook, or something for Marlins fans in NYC. Not a bad idea. I'll put together a Meetup post later on tonight and link to it here...though I still run into the problem of finding a bar that will play the games :/
  3. I don't know of any in the NYC area but the Cardinals one... is that the one in the Lower West side? Like, around Tribeca or that area? I think I've been there. I mean, it's NY so it wouldn't surprise me if there was more than one. Google says "Dewey's Flatiron" is one spot for the Cardinals, and that's at 26th/5th Avenue. The other (according to BarChannels.com) is "Blarney Rock Pub" which is West 33rd. Neither is Tribeca, but there might be more...?
  4. I performed a quick search of past threads, but was unable to find any posts concerning out-of-town watering holes where I could catch Marlins games on TV. If a thread already exists, feel free to shut this one down. Otherwise... I recently moved to New York City and overheard two people meeting each other at a bar last night and both shared they were from Missouri and were Cardinals fans. One of them mentioned a bar in the city where Cardinals fans congregate, and apparently over 50 showed up on opening day to watch the game. Impressive indeed, but it made me a little jealous. Apparently Dolphins fans hit Traffic Bar on 2nd ave bet 52nd and 53rd St., so my tenuous assumption is that they might occasionally play Marlins games...but football is a much bigger $$ draw than football, so I'm skeptical they'd even dedicate a TV screen to FoxSports Florida... Does anyone know of a "Marlins bar" in the NYC area? How about Marlins bars in other cities? Let's get a list going in the event the baseball gods have it in their plans that us fans to meet up and enjoy a game (and some beers) together. Go fish—
  5. I agree with those who arent in favor of any of the slogans. I'm more than happy to wait a few more weeks until we have a decent slogan, opening day should be the official slogan release day anyways...
  6. One small thing i noticed about the Drays ticket process was the ability to see where season tickets were available, seat by seat. You can find this info out by calling season ticket people for every team, but it's really cool to see where you can get tickets to and it makes the whole process very real.
  7. Red Sox - Mariners +
  8. I've been looking forward to this for a while....hope u2 wins!!!!
  9. Yes...and i just saw something on tv saying it was only a few weeks away. It's one of those events that's supposed to be fun and romantic until it creeps up on you and gets you all flustered and inclined to shell out some serious cash at the last moment
  10. I bursted out laughing when i saw that. It's a pretty cool car when it is driving around...but it makes the marlins look goofy as hell when you compare our auctions to the ones by the Cubs, Cards etc..
  11. It's a shame that so few of us are paying our respects to such a great woman. Maybe she didnt play a role as directly in our lives as a movie star, a famous singer, or a slugger, but Mrs. King's work and support of equality in this country make her a true hero. RIP
  12. Im not sure about everyone else, but I was impressed with Caine's response and the ease in which he speaks. The minority response is always a difficult task, but i believe he did a very good job and after only a few weeks in office has established himself as an emerging leader. I dont want to dive into Bush's speech out of my reluctance to getting into a fiery debate, but I really dont have any large problems with it, he's just speaking from the other side of the aisle than me.
  13. I know this might be a different reaction than most people's, but that low salary figure makes me really.....proud! The fact that we are somewhat hopeful about this team and the Yanks and the majority of other teams will weigh in with payrolls about 5-10 times higher is really cool.
  14. i just cant hit. i can pitch real good but it gets boring winning 1-0 or losing 1-0. Ive been like 5 teams already and uh im having a hard time here...maybe i should let the game rest for awhile! I bet the hitting problem is the same as the revenue problems everyone was complaining about last year, wait a few days and you'll get your touch back and the game will begin to balance itself out.....hopefully.
  15. I think it's pretty cool, it has that sort of HD quality to it.
