Well if that ain't the pot calling the kettle black. Did anyone see Turner Field last week? That field had more patches missing than mangy dog. I don't see the Marlins grounds crew letting something like that happen. Last I checked it was kinda hard to put a tarp down in the first place let alone in the monsoon they had to deal with tonight. 829000[/snapback] That was an error at the production place that makes the grass seed. There's a mix of Rye/Bermuda, and one of them didn't grow back as it should. At least you're not as bad as Washington's GC, who ran out of drying agent during a game there in late April/early May.

And if Skip Caray had an ounce of his Father's talent, he wouldn't be so inept about what is going on around him. 828991[/snapback] I'll grant you that the dude's old, but he's been doing Braves' games for 26+ years now. If you spend that much time in one job, I feel certain that without "an ounce" of talent, you wouldn't last long. You can hate on the guy, I don't really give a rip. But at the end of the day, the Marlins will always be second fiddle to the Braves. Horacio, Sosa, Davies, and Colon - the four-game sweep with four nobodies.

How on earth is it the umps' fault? We may not have an MLB game tomorrow because the grounds crew never covered the field. I have watched Braves baseball for over a dozen years with Ed Mangan, our grounds crew chief and have never seen that happen. We may not play tomorrow night, but you know what, left-center should be awfully dry for those pre-game T-Ball swings.

What do you guys think? Ever seen more ineptitude in one place in your life? On a brighter note, MLB just announced the FLA grounds crew will receive the coveted leap frogging award before the start of Thursday's game.

As a Braves fan, I have liked McKeon over the years back to his Reds days.. But enough's enough. He's not a better manager than Cox .. he doesn't relate to the players as well as Willie Randolph. Frank Robinson perenially gets more out of his kids than does McKeon. It's time for you guys to cut ties - you thought you'd never get another Jim Leyland, but another gem will be found. What old man wouldn't go to Miami given the chance? Looks like 2005 is a distant memory. Just build the team around Burnett and Cabrera and see where it goes - why you're trying to cut him is beyond me.

If the winner is strictly limited to Marlins players, as the resident Braves fan, I win with my pick of Travis Smith, who had the best game tonight of any Marlins' player.

Miggy Cabrera will go yard at least once off Homeracio tonight.

But two years removed from a WS ring? I don't think McKeon suddenly forgot how to manage .. well, come to think of it, Pierre did suddenly forget how to hit - call it Rafael Furcal disease.. And some insider information from the Braves camp. Those close to the organization are beginning to think Eddie Perez's career may be done, and Hampton's absence could continue through the AS break. John Thomson has returned to longtoss and could join the rotation within a few weeks. As for Chipper, who knows? He's been plagued by these injuries the last few years .. a few more blows to his feet could be the end of his career. But with Brian McCann as reserve catcher, and the phenoms Andy Marte/Wilson Betemit, Chipper's absence isn't too huge of a proposition long-term. Look for the Braves to make a move for Cesar Izturis in the offseason and possibly shop Marte around in the offseason. Kelly Johnson is quickly becoming a star in one corner OF position as Brian Jordan's days are dwindling.

I think I'm going to take Travis Smith. As a lifelong Braves fan now infiltrating the Marlins' boards, I can't believe you guys claimed him. We think Travis set the record for most homers surrendered while still being looked at as a decent pitcher. "Innings eater" = Crappy pitcher One question though, what's with McKeon? Reports on Braves broadcasts that unnamed Marlins players are upset with McKeon's managerial style and that they [FLA players] want McKeon canned. Personally, I love the way McKeon's organized this team, and I love the way you guys play the game. If it's not us this year, I for one would love to see you or the Nationals (a great hard-working squad) go all the way.. Then again, we could win the division again, and have you guys win the WC and run to a third ring - time will see.
