Marlins Ground Crew

Featured Replies

What do you guys think? Ever seen more ineptitude in one place in your life?

On a brighter note, MLB just announced the FLA grounds crew will receive the coveted leap frogging award before the start of Thursday's game.

If anyone is to blame it is the umpiring crew. They allowed play to conitnue through heavy rains which cause the tarp to become unmanagable.

Skip Caray still doesn't have a clue on anything.

How on earth is it the umps' fault? We may not have an MLB game tomorrow because the grounds crew never covered the field. I have watched Braves baseball for over a dozen years with Ed Mangan, our grounds crew chief and have never seen that happen.

We may not play tomorrow night, but you know what, left-center should be awfully dry for those pre-game T-Ball swings.

Dude...STF^

The umps let play continue until it get to the point the field was covered in water. The grounds crew could do nothing.

Do you have any idea how long it was raining before they called it? There was so much water out there by the time they tried to cover the field it was like being sent on a fool's errand.

(

It was kinda funny watching them. They showed the whole thing one Mlb.com. Kinda like trying to F#$K a bucket of ice water. It shall be the butt of many jokes for many years to come.

How many Marlins G.C. guys does it take to cover the field............................I dont know and its apparent that they dont know either.

Its amazing how they suddenly come out of the wood works.

If the Umps had done their jobs and called the game when they should have, the grounds crew wouldn't have that problem. And if Skip Caray had an ounce of his Father's talent, he wouldn't be so inept about what is going on around him.

STFU :cool

Its the umps fault for waiting too long. PERIOD. End of case.

Well if that ain't the pot calling the kettle black. Did anyone see Turner Field last week? That field had more patches missing than mangy dog. I don't see the Marlins grounds crew letting something like that happen. Last I checked it was kinda hard to put a tarp down in the first place let alone in the monsoon they had to deal with tonight.

But remember that those were the Braves ground crews and they can do no wrong. :mischief

The field drains well. Unless it rains all night it should have enough to dry up for tomorrow night's game.

I'll grant you that the dude's old, but he's been doing Braves' games for 26+ years now. If you spend that much time in one job, I feel certain that without "an ounce" of talent, you wouldn't last long. You can hate on the guy, I don't really give a rip. But at the end of the day, the Marlins will always be second fiddle to the Braves.

Horacio, Sosa, Davies, and Colon - the four-game sweep with four nobodies.

Dude. There isn't going to be a 4 game sweep. Get that through your head. You need to start thinking right.

That was an error at the production place that makes the grass seed. There's a mix of Rye/Bermuda, and one of them didn't grow back as it should. At least you're not as bad as Washington's GC, who ran out of drying agent during a game there in late April/early May.

I think dtrain will bail us out of the sweep-- the other games, I'm not so confident about, their offense is clicking and ours simply isn't unless we play the drays. I fear that winning 4 games in a row shadows our underlying problems of a piss poor bullpen and bad hitting outside of the middle of the order.

In case you did not know, the Marlins have one of the top GC in all of MLB.

It is amazing how they crawl out of the woodwork like roaches after a loss. Maybe we should trade the grounds crew??? Just don't start blaming anything on the Mermaids.

First off, Skip Caray needs to shut his mouth, he has no clue what hes talking about most of the time. The Marlins grounds crew is one of the best in baseball. And I don't blame the umps completely, that downpur came so quickly and so heavily that by the time they realized it wasnt going to stop like it did the time before, the field was covered with water. Maybe Skip should go down on the field and see how heavy that whole tarp is, and learn that its nearly impossible to pull something that heavy over mud.

A far as "Fourteen in a Row," Id rather have two shiny rings than thirteen pennants on the wall.
