  1. Last time people worried about Bell was 2002 or 2003
  2. Aybar = young Betemit (with more OBP, less power) Baez = meh, will be a FA at the end of the year, we'll see if the Braves resign him or let him go for prospects. Who closes for the Braves? Wickman or Baez?
  3. Wickman's been pretty good (2.62 ERA) outside of one game against the Reds this year, when he gave up 5 runs.
  4. Yow, Braves smacking around the Cards, 15-3 so far. Bobby Cox renewed his contract with the devil in early July apparently. I wouldn't put it past them to reach the Mets even if Pedro stays hurt and Glavine continues to show his age. They've still got to get another bullpen pitcher or two though.
  5. I think they're leading the league in offense and worst in the league in pitching of course, it's 6 games
  6. a 248/384/518 career line is bad? LOL.. that's above a .900 OPS for his career.. and he's only 26/27, entering his prime. GREAT move by the Reds.... remember, those K's and low BA are more than offset by lots of HR's and lots of walks.. he has a career SLG > .500 and OBP > .380.. jeez. Like guys like Brian Giles, Dunn is MASSIVELY underrated.
  7. What's funny is that the Mets have a player on their major league team that is even older than Rickey. And he's signed for several years. That'd of course, be Julio Caesar Franco.
  8. I think it'll be very interesting. The Yankees got their CF. The Red Sox look like a very different team. The Jays got some highly prized FA's. The O's got Mazzone. The Devil Rays.. erm.. yeah.
  9. Coco Crisp for Andy Marte and Mota? then replacing Crisp with Jason Michaels Great deal for the Indians, Shapiro's the man. for the red sox: Crisp for Renteria + Mota + $10 million Crisp is a nice player, but he isn't worth that. Serves them right for getting Loretta for next to nothing.
  10. Sickles said that he'd be like Brian Giles with less power I'd take it
  11. The Mets rotation would be pretty lackluster after that by getting rid of Benson, Seo, and Hielman 1. Pedro 2. Glavine 3. Trachsel 4. Zambrano 5. Brian Bannister? The first 3 are old or injury prone, and their rotation depth vanishes
  12. I was a Braves fan before I was a Marlins moved into town (though I wasn't a huge baseball fan back then), and I'll be a Braves fan again if the Marlins move out of Florida. The Marlins have given me some great memories, but these types of offseasons totally suck. It is one firesale too many for me if they move.
  13. Comparing Petit to Maddux is silly in the first place since one is a FB pitcher who relies on deception, and the other is a GB pitcher who relies on wicked movement.
  14. 13.3 million for Furcal? second highest paid SS in league after Jeter? jeez.. no offense to Furcal, he's a great player, but he's a complementary player (leadoff hitter/table setter) not someone you build around. this is vlad or pujols money. it's ace money. it's not furcal money. what were the dodgers thinking?
  15. don't forget the yankees, braves, red sox, mets, etc.. that all have hordes of fans in Florida.
  16. I know a few hardcore Expos fans who said that they'd remain Nats fans after the move, but they ended up not being, said it would be too hard. I think I'll probably end up being a Drays fan.
  17. So Fla looks like an unviable market to any owner not named Bill Gates (well, it's viable, but only in a small market sense) Husengia is partly to blame, but perhaps the market is just isn't ready yet.
  18. Furcal is worth more than Edgar almost exactly same offensively career wise but: Furcal is younger Furcal had a better FA walk season Similiar defensively, but edge probably goes to Furcal at this point
  19. That crotch grabbing picture is Tino Martinez and Placido Polanco.. look up the Jersey Numbers
