When is it this year? My dad receives all of his Marlins mail at his office and unfortunately he's been really sick lately & unable to go get it. Anyone happen to know when it is? It's one of our favorite events of the year, wouldn't want to miss it. Thanks! P.S. - Can't wait for NJ tonight!! We'll be there in section 145. Maybe I'll bring a pillow and blanket for Boni so he can just relax and take a little nap...for 2 months...

No matter what, you can't stand there and have a tantrum when there's a loose ball and a guy running the bases, especially in such a big park.

I'm not sure what this organization is thinking. Our outfield was already a patch job with Amezaga and Borchard in there most of the time, but really throwing in Abercrombie is just the icing on the cake. I know Ross is hurt and we need a right-handed bat, but honestly, Reggie might as well step in the box without a bat. He really doesn't need it anyway. His fielding looks like Cabrera's during the first year he played left field --- a dance routine. Don't get me started about his sulking after he misplayed the Kearns ball. He sulked and threw a little tantrum out in CF long enough for Willingham to come over and pick up the ball, causing them to have some awkward contact. This is the major leagues, leave the sulking behind in little league, please. Thanks. It's just sickening. Tank and Julio aren't helping, either.

I thought this was kind of funny, I copy/pasted it from the article on MLB.com about Girardi being fired: At one point, Girardi wanted to switch Miguel Cabrera to first base, use Dan Uggla at third base and have Mike Jacobs open the season in Triple-A. Beinfest overruled the manager on those ideas. Girardi also wanted Josh Willingham to be the primary catcher over Miguel Olivo, Beinfest's choice to be behind the plate. SOURCE MOD EDIT: Always add the link when quoting a source. Thanks.

Hopefully he is, that way he'll just play for the league minimum his whole career. I mean, it's for the good of the land. LOL That's the most amazing thing I've ever heard. Well said.

Does anybody know the artist and/or song name to Dan Uggla's entrance song? Thanks in advance. Classy username. Really, great for the kids.

Well Chavez is the leader of his homeland. I am sure he still has family that lives there, and Miguel did recently participate in the WBC representing his homeland. Just because he sends his country's leader a signed bat it does not mean he agrees with his political thought process, nor does it mean he thinks Chavez is some great guy. You do have a point, but at the same time you don't see El Duque, Livan, or Jose Contreras sending Fidel Castro baseball memorabilia. I'm sure that those 3 guys would have played for Cuba in the WBC if Castro had allowed them. If it's true that this took place 6 years ago then I guess it isn't that big of a deal, considering he wasn't even in the Majors, and he was...what...18?

There are 20 former Marlins in the playoffs
CanesNFish05 replied to fanfish's topic in Miami Marlins
This has what to do with the current Florida Marlins? PS: calling Mike Piazza a former Marlin is like calling Johan Santana a former Marlin or Astro What does it matter if it doesn't have to do with the current Marlins? This is a Marlins board, isn't it? Someone is a former Marlin if they were ever on the team, no matter how long. I thought the post was interesting, lighten up. -
I agree. Since Conine went over to the dark side I have found myself rooting more against the Phillies than for the Marlins (well almost). The first night Philly was back in our park I made a sign that said "How could you Conine?" I had seats in Founders field on the front row and when Conine stopped on first in the 3rd inning he looked right at me and the sign. You could tell he was reading it and then he shrugged his shoulders and said "sorry". Yeah right.....You aren't sorry or you would have stayed in the American League. And by the way...red isn't your color. you do realize he was traded to Philly, right? Oh yeah, I realize but that's because he wanted to play for a playoff contender.....BUT seriously then...go to the Yankees, the Twins who ever but the PHILLIES????? I never had the same problem with Paul la Duca or Carlos etc but none of them is MR Marlin....Yeah Mr Marlin not Mr Philly. I still don't think you get it. OK...What is it you want me to get???? I am supposed to be glad he is playing for a contender and competes directly against us? Your right ...that I don't get. Well, I guess I get it $$$$. I know for a fact that players have a say in where they don't want to go and all I am saying is I would rather have seen him in Yankee blue or A's green. HE WENT TO THE f***ING ORIOLES. GOD DAMN IT! HE WAS TRADED TO THE PHILLIES. How dare he get himself traded!!! :banghead OK...I guess your right. I love it. Since you are so freaked out then I guess that makes you right. I bet you don't play well with others either. Um...wow.

how do you get those ummm I guess I can't call em seats but hot tubs? Honestly I'm not sure. I'm friends with that girl who's always on the screen wearing the teal cowboy hat, and she has major connections. The only thing is that you have to have a group of about 25 people or so. I'm sure you can get them by calling the stadium, I doubt that the hot tub is some exclusive commodity.

I had the opportunity to be in the Bud Beach (hot tub area) last night and it was awesome. It was only $55, and it includes food, drinks, and obviously 3 hot tubs (and probably a few shots on the jumobo-tron). The whole place is practically on top of the bullpen so we were sitting around talking to Messenger, Tank, Treanor, and Mitre most of the time. They were all really nice and would eagerly sign autographs and take pictures. Garcia is creepy...he kept wanting to talk to us alone in the tunnel. It's also really easy to get baseballs, they throw them out like it's Christmas. The only bad thing is that it's hard to focus on the game, but it's pretty much a once-a-year type of thing anyway. Walking under the stadium to go to the Bullpen entrance we saw a bunch of players going back and forth from the Dugout and the indoor batting cages, but security wouldn't let us get close enough. Anyway, if you guys have a chance to ever do the Bud Beach, I suggest you do it, it's really a great time. Go fish

Someone should really type up a nice summary of this thread and send it to the Marlins' marketing reps. They may appreciate some fan input, and they're really good ideas.

Marlins dunces: Abercrombie Messenger Mitre We can't be giving teams like St. Louis opportunities to score when we have a lead like this (i.e. Messenger & Mitre). This is reminding me of the beginning of the season. I realize that Tankersley is one of our better relievers, but I don't know about Girardi bringing him in with runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs to face a right-handed batter. This is another questionable move by Girardi based on "confidence"...just like the infamous bunt-sign with 2 strikes to Hanley. It's just frustrating to see Dontrelle work so hard for our washed up, recovering bullpen members (Mitre) to just come and mess it up. Hopefully we can pull something together in the 9th inning, otherwise it'll just be a shame, especially since Philly lost. Go fish

I haven't been able to check this website in a few days because I've been out of town watching the Fish. Yankee Stadium is great, everyone should go to it at some point if they can. Very cool that ESPN picked up our second game, Schambi actually made us look good. Did anyone see when Craig talked to that guy and his daughter in Baltimore with that old Conine ball on FSN? That was cool. Go Fish!
