  1. That is standard Christian theology. Doesn't mean what she said was justified. Why not? It is her right to assert her religion is correct if she thinks it is. I do not like Ann Coulter, nor do I agree with her. It just seems that people have forgotten what the Chriustian party line has been since 70 AD.
  2. That is standard Christian theology. Coulter is not saying anything out of line.
  3. Good! Why are people here unhappy with this development?

  5. I have know idea how to post youtube, but I found this hilarious: Meanwhile... "Guiliani: Cash on hand available for the primary is "over $11 million." and $10.5 million in primary money. I think this is final. The Guiliani campaign has been as sly about their money as they are about torture. Thompson Numbers: 9.3m for the quarter, 7m on hand (what part of the 7m is primary money is unknown) Ron Paul: 5.3 million cash on hand all for the primary Mitt Romney: 500,000 cash on hand + 8.5 million loan to self McCain 3.6 million on hand, debts unknown (rumored to be 2 million), primary-general breakdown unknown." http://www.lewrockwell.com/blog/
  6. Hmm, as far as I can tell, the only candidate that refuses any government attempts at the forceful redistribution of wealth in Ron Paul.
  7. "We're not the divided states of america." My God, does Huckabee think we are fifth graders? I am tired of these phony conservatives bashing Paul. I can see if you are a Newt [Gingrich (for those "conservatives" who forgot what a real conservative is)] hold out, or even holding your nose and supporting Fred Thompson. But, it makes me want to vomit if you claim to be a "Reagan" or any other "conservative" if you support McCain, Romney, Giulliani, or Huckabee. Huckabee was praised by socialist Bill Maher for being liberal on economic issues: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8EkK1vhYYgU McCain, for those of you with a memory of recent history, is well known for being practically a Democrat. Look at his immigration and campaign finance initiatives. McCain was rumored to contemplate switching to the Democratic Party in 2002: http://www.tnr.com/doc.mhtml?i=express&s=chait051402 Pffftt, what a conservative. Mitt Romney was the governor of Massachusetts. Do I really need to explain more? Well, just in case you know nothing about politics, Massachusetts is probably the second most liberal state behind Vermont and Romney was essentially a liberal governor. Details available from Boston.com http://www.boston.com/news/local/politics/...y_to_the_right/ Rudy Giulliani has one conservative bone with him: he is ruthless when it comes to making sure white people are safe. Whether that means cracking heads, sodomizing people with plungers, or acting real macho when talking about them A-Rabs while using the Napoleonic cliche "the best defense is a good offense."* However, he is liberal economically and socially. So, it is more accurate to say he is a pro-bashing heads liberal than he is a pro-choice republican. Sure, such a combination works beautifully in NYC, but NYC is not the whole country. Newt Gingrich, Fred Thompson, and Ron Paul--those are your only real conservative choices that have any chance whatsoever of winning. You support any of the other guys, you might as well vote for Hillary Clinton--she is also in favor of bashing open Iraqi heads. Her and Giulliani should have a get together sometime. *I believe the real quote from Napoleon was something along the lines of "those who hide behind their fortifications will fail."
  8. In a century or so (once all of this completely debunked and Al Gore is long dead), I can only imagine the harsh things that will be said about a certain population of our current generation of scientists. Let's hope you're right then. Otherwise, we're in a lot of trouble. I would prefer to take the cautious route and believe the 99% of scientists that support the Global Warming theory. I wish I kept the link to the journal article, but there is something like 45% of climate scientists either explicitly or implicitly support the man-made climate change theory in their published papers...meaning, there statistically is no consensus. Furthermore, it is complete nonsense to say the cautious route is necessarily the best one...because, what is the cautious route??? Is the route where we burn as much oil as we like and save people from freezing and starving to death more cautious than shaking a very expensive stick at an unknown problem? I would say so. Kind of reminds me of this picture:
  9. Why is he being a lunatic for saying something like that? Preventive medicine is the best medicine... if you're going to have universal health care it would make sense to require people to do this so that it is more manageable. If you're against universal health care, then say so, but don't make him sound like a lunatic because he supports something that makes sense in this context. Personally, I am against universal health care as these candidates propose it... I prefer a more market oriented universal health care approach. Clearly the idea is that he thinks people are too stupid to take care of themselves, but he's honest. Out of all the frontrunner candidates, he is the only one without lying, wierd marriages, corporatist connections, and flip-flopping (besides the Iraq vote). I mean, he never released a press release declaring to whatever it takes to get out of the war while attending a conference and endorsing the "Korea Plan" like Hillary Clinton. However, leftist politics people are too stupid to take care of themselves. People are supposedly too dumb not to buy products from sweatshops/polluting factories/from questionable companies, so leftists think the government should step in and tell you what not to buy. They think people are too dumb to take care of others through charity, so they want enforced charity. Leftists believe that consumers and producers are too stupid to come up witrh fair market rates for everything from labor to cheese, so they propose price ceilings that fail every time they are implemented. Leftists believe that people are too dumb to talk on cellphones in cars or smoke in public and private places, so they illegalize it. They believe we are too stupid to use guns, knives, and pepper spray in a proper and mature fashion, so they want them to all be confiscated. Any ideology that asserts that increased government to fix problems assumes people are increasingly stupid. And maybe they are. Maybe Edwards is right. Perhaps his wife was too stupid to get to the doctor concerning her cancer and now in result she is going to die--and he wants no one else to be victim of their own stupidity ever again. We may very well be victims of our own stupidity. However, who is to judge what is indeed stupid and then force the model of normality (aka "normalcy") upon everyone else? The more the government intervenes, the higher the probability of needless or malicious force may be used. So perhaps, one may argue, our stupidity victimizes us the most when we are so stupid we sign off all our liberties away in fear we are too dumb to defend and take care of ourselves. Edwards is merely honest--but the insanity of his proposal merely underscores the insanity of government intervensionism. And as I alluded to before, our acceptance of interventionism makes us victims of the worst kind of stupidity.
  10. Climate change could be causing cougar attacks: expert CanWest News Service Wednesday, August 29, 2007 CANMORE, Alta. -- A combination of warm winters and Alberta's population boom is causing a recent jump in cougar attacks, says a spokesman for the government agency that collects cougar-related data. The province's cougar population has jumped this year because recent warm winters have pushed up the population of deer, elk and moose -- the cougars' natural prey, said Darcy Whiteside with Alberta Sustainable Resource Development. "These are natural fluctuations," Whiteside said on Wednesday. "But they're compounded by the fact that municipalities are expanding into natural areas. A lot more people are living, camping and hiking in those areas, too." Wildlife officials spent Tuesday tracking a hungry and possibly sick cougar that attacked a family dog in Canmore, Alta. While the cougar hasn't been found, the dog is recovering at a veterinary clinic with severe head injuries after it was attacked and carried away by the cat. No humans have been mauled by cougars in Alberta since 2005, but the number of sightings has jumped: as of Aug. 2, 136 sightings were reported. That's already 17 more than the total sightings in 2006, and 19 more than in 2005, said Whiteside. "Fish Creek Park, for example, is very close to the built-up area of Calgary,"Whiteside said of natural areas where cougars were spotted this summer. And because cougars don't hibernate over the winter, Albertans should expect encounters with the cats to continue, Whiteside said. In British Columbia, a 12-year-old boy was camping with his family in the interior on Aug. 1, when he was mauled by a big cat. The attack left him with 200 stitches in his head. The month before, a woman was forced to fend off an aggressive cougar that had been stalking her as she hiked alone on a popular trail in Kooney National Park, B.C. More than 90% of all fatal North American cougar/human encounters since 1890 have taken place on Vancouver Island. Seven people have been killed by cougars between 1890 and 1990. Most recently, 30-year-old Frances Frost was skiing on the Cascade Trail, 12 kilometres from Banff, when she was killed by a cougar in January 2001. In 1996, Cindy Parolin was killed while defending her young son who had been knocked off a horse by a cougar in Princeton, 250 kilometres east of Vancouver. A cougar also killed an eight-year-old boy in 1992 in a schoolyard in Kyoquot, B.C., on the northwest side of Vancouver Island. http://www.canada.com/nationalpost/news/st...a33&k=51234 Luckily, global warming has also decreased polar bear attacks. So which do you want, more cougar maulings or more polar bear maulings?
  11. A member of the Canadian Mounted Police by the name of Mike Lake has officially notified the Canadian Parliament that he believes that Bigfoot should be added to the Nation's, Species at Risk Act. This is similar to the Endangered Species List in the United States. According to Mr. Lake, the creature that is also known as the Sasquatch is real, and is endangered. The reason, he says that there have not been more sightings in North America of Bigfoot is because the creature is endangered, not necessarily shy like many believe. Currently there are 516 plants and animals that are listed in the Species at Risk Act in Canada. There are many other candidates for this list that are being considered including the Whooping Crane, the Blue Whale, and Red Mulberry trees. There have been similar motions to add Bigfoot to the Endangered Species list in the United States. Congress has refused to listen to these requests because Congress does not believe that there is solid proof to the existence of Bigfoot. There is a lot of evidence that point to the possibility of the existence of Bigfoot. The fact that 90% of the western Provinces of Canada are uninhabited leads many to believe that there may be plants and animals living there that have yet to be discovered by modern man. The story of Bigfoot dates back before the discovery of North America. Many Native American and Canadian tribes recorded stories about a creature that was half man and half beast that wondered around in the western States and Provinces. The interest in Bigfoot mostly started back in 1811 when David Thompson discovered large, well-defined footprints in Jasper, Alberta, Canada. The Patterson-Gimlin Film of Bigfoot was shot on October 20, 1967. this film of the creature walking through a clearing in the woods in California has become the most popular bit of evidence for the existence of the creature. All of the recorded sightings of Bigfoot have been greeted with speculation in the United States and Canada. All of the photos and film of Bigfoot have also been met with speculation as to whether or not the creature was real, or if a human in a suit was pictured. It will be interesting to see if the Canadian Parliament accepts the bid to place Bigfoot of the list for protected animals and plants. If the Canadian Government takes this step, the United States Government might soon follow that lead of its northern neighbor. http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/2...y_canadian.html
  12. It appears that Ron Paul is the only candidate that does not want the government to run every single facet of your life.
  13. True, I just find it hilarious that for some reason I am supposed to be angry enough to bomb Iran because they want to occupy a fpreign nation that is heir nemesis which actually killed hundreds of thousanas of their people. Not that this makes what Iran might do right, but it is like Vietname...do I really care if South Vietnam is a mess and North Vietnam occupies it? Is South Vietname the 51st state? Who cares! Only in hindsight can we see that certain elements of interventionism worked out, such as in Korea. No one would doubt we are better with both north and south korea than just a north korea. But, are we better off after what we did in Cuba, Chile, Iran, Afghanistan, Iraq, Nicaragua, and etcetera during the 50s to 80s? Another thing which is glaring, but our country closes its eyes and gets blown away, is our needless support for Israel. Now, I support Israel, but I do not think that they need 3 billion in US aid nor do we need the blame that entails...nor do we need to also give Egypt, Palestine, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia billions of dollars in order to counter what we gave to Israel. Sort of what John Stewart said, "Oh billions of dollars, is there any dispute you can't settle?" If we had no troops in the middle east and were giving none of these states billions to arm against each other (Iraq and Iran are 2 great examples) we would have much less problems. It simply amounts to idiocy to believe we should intervene more and not less when one considers the track record. Quite frankly, gas isn't that cheap now, and I do not think any policy meant for "stabilizing" the middle east is worth it for any humanitarian or economic reason. I saw we invest those billions back home with our own dilling, alternative fuels, or here's a bold idea: paying down the national debt so we don't need to borrow money from China to fight a war in Iraq.
  14. I challenge Iran to try. Are we supposed to be scared or mad that Iran wants to muscle some country that we hated so much in the last 20 years we invaded it twice? Who cares, I really do not think we can clean all the world's messes...we have historically just made more in the process.

  16. The torture the man was subjected to, ahem, I mean--what's the politically correct term? "Super duper really advanced interrogation technique that destroys the mind and body but leaves no marks type thing"? Talk about newspeak...Padilla has become delusional and now apparently loves Big Brother, er Herr George Bush. His psychologist and family reported that he was very angry that the civil proceedings were "unfair to the commander-in-chief," quote/unquote. He wanted his mother to contact President Bush to help him, help him out of his dilemma. He expected that the government might help him, if he was ?good,? quote/unquote. Sounds eerily similar to this line in 1984: "Two gin-scented tears trickled down the sides of his nose. But it was all right, everything was all right, the struggle was finished. He had won the victory over himself. He loved Big Brother." I do not write this because I am a fan of Jose Padilla. Rather, I am a fan of the 8th amendment, and just because we don't call torture torture, that doesn't mean it isn't torture. Padilla's trip to Room 101 apparently destroyed his mind. http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_...las-love-f.html __ "Sell not virtue to purchase wealth, nor Liberty to purchase power." -Benjamin Franklin
  17. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/money/main.jhtm...cnchina107a.xml The Chinese government has begun a concerted campaign of economic threats against the United States, hinting that it may liquidate its vast holding of US treasuries if Washington imposes trade sanctions to force a yuan revaluation. Two officials at leading Communist Party bodies have given interviews in recent days warning - for the first time - that Beijing may use its $1.33 trillion (?658bn) of foreign reserves as a political weapon to counter pressure from the US Congress. Shifts in Chinese policy are often announced through key think tanks and academies. Described as China's "nuclear option" in the state media, such action could trigger a dollar crash at a time when the US currency is already breaking down through historic support levels. advertisementdcmaxversion = 9dcminversion = 8DoOn Error Resume Nextplugin = (IsObject(CreateObject("ShockwaveFlash.ShockwaveFlash." & dcmaxversion & "")))If plugin = true Then Exit Dodcmaxversion = dcmaxversion - 1Loop While dcmaxversion >= dcminversionIt would also cause a spike in US bond yields, hammering the US housing market and perhaps tipping the economy into recession. It is estimated that China holds over $900bn in a mix of US bonds. Xia Bin, finance chief at the Development Research Centre (which has cabinet rank), kicked off what now appears to be government policy with a comment last week that Beijing's foreign reserves should be used as a "bargaining chip" in talks with the US. "Of course, China doesn't want any undesirable phenomenon in the global financial order," he added. He Fan, an official at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, went even further today, letting it be known that Beijing had the power to set off a dollar collapse if it choose to do so. "China has accumulated a large sum of US dollars. Such a big sum, of which a considerable portion is in US treasury bonds, contributes a great deal to maintaining the position of the dollar as a reserve currency. Russia, Switzerland, and several other countries have reduced the their dollar holdings. "China is unlikely to follow suit as long as the yuan's exchange rate is stable against the dollar. The Chinese central bank will be forced to sell dollars once the yuan appreciated dramatically, which might lead to a mass depreciation of the dollar," he told China Daily. The threats play into the presidential electoral campaign of Hillary Clinton, who has called for restrictive legislation to prevent America being "held hostage to economic decicions being made in Beijing, Shanghai, or Tokyo". She said foreign control over 44pc of the US national debt had left America acutely vulnerable. Simon Derrick, a currency strategist at the Bank of New York Mellon, said the comments were a message to the US Senate as Capitol Hill prepares legislation for the Autumn session. "The words are alarming and unambiguous. This carries a clear political threat and could have very serious consequences at a time when the credit markets are already afraid of contagion from the subprime troubles," he said. A bill drafted by a group of US senators, and backed by the Senate Finance Committee, calls for trade tariffs against Chinese goods as retaliation for alleged currency manipulation. The yuan has appreciated 9pc against the dollar over the last two years under a crawling peg but it has failed to halt the rise of China's trade surplus, which reached $26.9bn in June. Henry Paulson, the US Tresury Secretary, said any such sanctions would undermine American authority and "could trigger a global cycle of protectionist legislation". Mr Paulson is a China expert from his days as head of Goldman Sachs. He has opted for a softer form of diplomacy, but appeared to win few concession from Beijing on a unscheduled trip to China last week aimed at calming the waters. So now China controls our monetary policy? Good grief. We have to start getting rid of the budget defecit and help American businesses or this country is cooked. We can start by getting the heck out of Iraq.
  18. Ron Paul has several times asserted he would pursue bin Laden, even in Pakistani territory. Ron Paul supporters are well aware of this: http://ronpaulaudio.com/rpaudio/RonPaulRad...wPoll080307.m3u
  19. I cannot believe that in the twenty first century people still hold onto irrational medieval superstitions. Then again, most people in this country are Giulliani or Hillary supporters, so maybe I should not be surprised. Cats are especially loving animals, but as an animal it can sense weakness. The cat is merely trying to console people it senses are dying in its own cat way--purring up next to them. There is nothing remotely evil about it. Too serious, much? I take every chance I get to...

After reading what the state department said, I agree the newsource should issue a correct such as, "Al Gore Serves Species of Fish at Risk of Being Endangered." http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/1492380.stm I still do not see buying wextremely expensive fish from half-way across the world is so eco-friendly or why everyone else in the world but the rich will have to sacrifice on the altar of global warming.

Don't ask questions. He's a visionary: Gore and his guests at the weekend ceremony dined on Chilean sea bass - arguably one of the world's most threatened fish species. Also known as Patagonian toothfish, the species is under pressure from illegal, unregulated and unreported fishing activities in the Southern Ocean, jeopardising the sustainability of remaining stocks. The species is currently managed by the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Living Marine Resources, the body which introduced a catch and trade documentation scheme as an attempt to tackle illegal poaching of this species. The story comes from the Humane Society. ___ Note: From the do as I say, not as I do because I am way better and am entitled to more than you department.
