The State of the Marlins' Rotation
You can't predict injuries, to be fair. Before the season begins, all we have is paper. But also to be fair, Josh Johnson has a consistent injury history and has recorded only one 200+ IP season. He's so injury prone, I kind of expect him to go on the DL at least once a year. I don't like to be pessimistic about it, and I really hope he proves me wrong.

2011-2012 NBA Thread
You know the Lakers are bitchin now. :violin It'll be even funnier when the don't get Howard. Which L.A. team wins more games if that happens? How great would it be if the Clippers had a better record than the Lakers?

My legs are reaaaaaally feeling it today, and I didn't even do leg weights yesterday, (Save that for Toning Tuesdays and Thursdays. Yes, I have themes for workouts depending on what day of the week it is. Judge away.) I don't know if I should do another five miles today, try mystikol's strategy or just not run today. But I never skip cardio before leaving the gym. I always make myself finish the full hour of cardio. I'm going to have change the way I work out, I guess, if I want to do this. Where do you get those tracking devices to see how far you run outside? Oh, and I guess I'll need a stopwatch too.

He's a lawyer, though :o Gotta pass that bar first. And another Jewish lawyer is exactly what this world needs.

Haha...Yes I knew, Mr. Mike. Why would I like his post if I thought he was surrrious? Mr. Kol is a mensch and is capable of no wrong.

Isn't he the oldest active player right now? Aaron Rowand could possibly fill the veteran leader role if and when he finds his way on the 25-man roster. Speaking of veteran bench guys, I hear the Nationals are looking at Greg Dobbs. You think you're special just cause you read MLBTR? Big whoop. Actually, it was a tweet from a reporter. I can't read MLBTR for the sake of my sanity.

One tip from a runner closer to your speed than Dr. B's: you can probably get a faster pace than you think. I found that I did better running hard for short periods and then fast walking until ready to run again, and I realized it was because that forced me to completely exert myself and use all my energy. When I jogged the whole way, it seemed like I was always leaving something on the table and thus going more slowly. Another option is to mix in some faster jogs/runs with your more comfortable pace. It's probably different for each person, though. I can't deal with music, personally; it messes with my breathing and pace. Thanks. Do you wind up running or walking more when you do that? I've been a speed walker for years, but I'm going to start doing that running in spurts thing when I get further into my training and start running outdoors. Right now I'm testing my endurance. So far, so good. At the gym today I steadily ran the five-mile hour on the treadmill. (Side note - a lady asked me as I was leaving when I became a runner. I replied, "Yesterday.") My main goal is just to finish it, but I know that I'm going to feel like crap when I see dozens of people ahead of me from the get go. At 4'10" my legs are short and bony, so I'm not going to have the advantage of long strides. The music will keep me in my own little world and not care about everyone else. For me, running music is essential. I work out to a lot of rap and hip hop from different decades. That music pumps me up and gets me through. Lil Jon (I'm not even a fan) appears in a handful of my cardio songs, and there is a heavy Michael Jackson presence. If I don't have my music to run to, my mind will go to a dark place and I'll start thinking about ex-boyfriends and my career. That will either slow me down or make me run harder.

Yu Darvish
For what it's worth: Buster_ESPN Buster Olney Sources: the Yankees did post an offer on Yu Darvish. SPTimesRays Marc Topkin #Rays, as expected, did not bid on Darvish, whose parents supposedly met in St. Pete.

This Board is Changing - Can We Get Clarification on the Rules?
Everything seems pretty much back to normal to me. Agreed. Happy to say my concerns appear unfounded. Hopefully it stays as such. Might need to look into this again once the season starts. I don't know. The Marlins started off 30-20 last year and things stayed the same. Yeah, but this is probably going to be the most anticipated Marlins season since 1993. There's bound to be increased interest by casual fans.

Nice! And 10-minute miles, that's what I'm working toward. I tried 12-minute miles (5 mph) yesterday for an hour straight without stopping for the first time. I always used asthma as an excuse not to run for long periods of time. But yesterday at the gym I realized just by trying I could probably do a half marathon. My iPod cardio mix helps A LOT. I don't know if they allow iPods at marathons. If not, that could be a deal breaker.

Run a marathon? I never have, but I am strongly considering running the Sarasota Half Marathon in March. It would be a New Year's resolution, but I also want to push myself to accomplish something I never thought possible.

Espn Miami
I'd rather not. The writers for espnchicago are all hacks, IMO. Didn't one of them stalk Bartman outside his office for an entire day? And he didn't even get the story.

Espn Miami
I just got off the phone with someone from their Largo headquarters. Here's what I found out: ESPNFlorida.com launched in October. Basically they merged all of Florida's conglomerate ESPN radio stations into one platform. That's pretty much Tampa and Orlando. They cover Miami sports on the site despite there not being a section for it. They are in the process of branching out and hiring writers in Miami, Jacksonville and Tallahassee. They're "moving in that direction." I also informed the guy that it said "ESPN Forida" in the contact us section. Edit: They fixed the typo. I am so f*cking powerful.

Espn Miami
ESPNFlorida.com includes Miami teams in its coverage. How long has that been around? It doesn't look like its from ESPN though if you compare it to the Espn.com sites. Genesis communications at the bottom is a red flag. It looks like a phishing site except the links are real. And it only has a Tampa and Orlando news section anyway. I'll pass. I'm not really sure how long it's been around, actually. I stumbled across its a few months ago. I don't know why there isn't a Miami section. Tampa I understand, but Orlando only has the Magic and...UCF. There's a Jags story in the Orlando news section right now. WTF. The site needs work. I assume it's new.

D-Train to Phillies
f***ing Phillies. D-train im disappointed in you. Im surprised the Phillies even took a chance on him. I think at this point Dontrelle would have signed with any team that wanted him because there are so few that do. And I'm also surprised the Phillies of all teams wanted him.

D-Train to Phillies
This should be interesting. The Philadelphia Phillies have reached agreement on a one-year major league deal with free agent Dontrelle Willis, a baseball source said Tuesday. The deal, pending completion of a physical, would pay Willis about $1 million and include additional money for performance bonuses, the source said.

Pujols to Angels
The OC Sports Grill in Anaheim has its official Pujols burger, "The Machine." I never thought I'd see something more disgusting than MARLINBURGER's avatar.

Miami Herald
It's been that way for quite some time. If you don't like it, don't read it and get your Marlins news from other media outlets. There's nothing wrong with critiquing products or services one uses. I didn't say there was. Just making a suggestion.
