Sosa-"Believe me, we are going to close the deal."
Actually, I was reading that the playoffs have NOT been a big boon to many local businesses. Sure, the souvenir hawkers and Wrigleyville bars are doing fine, but many restaurants have experienced a big downturn in their business. Folks aren't going to go out to eat because they want to watch the Cubs on TV, and don't want to be any place where the game's not featured (dining out? out. shopping? out) The economic advantages to the city due to the Cubs' success are thus far way overrated. That could change with a World Series berth.

Chicago Media Confident
Anyone remember the newpaper in the famous "Dewey Defeats Truman" photo? That would be the Chicago Tribune. Actually, I think it was called the Chicago Daily Tribune.

Spooneybarger - Idiot
Many call it "The Shrine" with full sarcasm. Depends on the poster and the forum.

Upcoming Cubs pitchers
That's likely the only way it will happen, and maybe not even then. Baker is pretty steadfast about not pitching his guys on 3 days rest.

White Sox Fans Back Marlins 110%
Yet there exist other Sox fans who aren't in drooling-hatred-for-anything-that-even-sounds-like-the-Cubs mode. Can it be?

White Sox Fans Back Marlins 110%
The Cubs have been traditionally for the more affluent, the Chicago transplants and the people who live on the North Side of town. The Sox have been more of a working class team and for people who are lifetime Chicagoans. How true is this anymore? I know I fit into many possible Cubfan stereotypes, yet I'm a Sox fan. Just so you Fish fans don't get a version that's too skewed, there indeed exist Sox fans who would like to see the Cubs win. But I can't decide yet. It was easy against the Braves (go Cubs), tougher choice against Marlins.
