The No. 2 on pencils means that the pencil is the number given to the pencils that are hard and black: #1 = B #2 = HB -- most common #2? = F -- also seen as 2-4/8, 2.5, 2 5/10 due to patent issues #3 = H #4 = 2H B= Blackness H= Hardness F= Fine I like mechanical pencils for writing and sketching and I like wooden pencils for sketching too.
