Like Mechanical Pencils?

Featured Replies

Up until this school year I woulda voted wooden, but these mechancical pencils are the greatest invention of the era. The writing quality is far superior. :thumbup

Mechanical.

I detest using wooden pencils because the writing quality isn't as good.

Mechanical, I just hate sharpening pencils. It's so hard to find a good pencil sharpener.

i prefer wooden just cuz i dont like clicking all the time and i push down hard when i write so the lead always breaks with mechanical pencils for me.

normally i just use whatever i can find though.

Mechanical. Much easier to use when I'm working on Paint By Numbers or Paint By Pairs puzzles.

Why do they called it Number 2 pencil anyway?

It has something to do with the lead :headscratch

The lower the # is the softer the lead is :confused

The No. 2 on pencils means that the pencil is the number given to the pencils that are hard and black:

#1 = B

#2 = HB -- most common

#2? = F -- also seen as 2-4/8, 2.5, 2 5/10 due to patent issues

#3 = H

#4 = 2H

B= Blackness

H= Hardness

F= Fine

I like mechanical pencils for writing and sketching and I like wooden pencils for sketching too. I mostly use mechanical though.

I don't know. Maybe at an art supply store, perhaps...

pens

I concur with the above statement.

I personally believe that a bad idea, no matter how stupid or bad, has any right to be erased. I came up with it, wrote it down. Therefore, it's my job, as a writer/mathametician, WHATEVER, to learn from my mistakes. Also, I like, after learning said lesson, crossing the heck out of the bad idea/thought. Writing over it because I'm wiser.

B.S. I know, but totally true. As an occasionaly writer, I use prefer pens to any form of the pencil.

I found a really good brand of pencils over at the Office Max near my house: never really have to push down, nice erasers and excellent writing quality. :thumbup

You can find all types of pencil leads at Art supply stores.

My daughter is an artist and uses the 3's and 4's a lot.

For music writing, I prefer the #1 because it's darker and I can still erase if I make a mistake, yet don't have to go over my work when I want to photocopy.

Mechanical for me

The writing is much more precise,as opposed to using a wooden pencil where the tip gets dull quicker causing everything to look messy.

wooden pencils. ill write with either though but i mostly use pens.

I like mechanical, but a well sharpened wooden pencil straight up pwns for drawing cartoons when you're supposed to be paying attention.

Mechanical for writing in math

Wooden for chewing

Pen for everything
