Just got back from watching WM....some thoughts:

 

Nice intro, with three generations of McMahons there....Good opening bout, what a sight seeing Big Show up for the FU....The RAW tag title match was okay, glad Booker/RVD retained....Good ol' Okerlund and Heenan. You KNEW they couldn't go a WM without putting Mae Young on there....Loved the Christian/Jericho match. Was Trish the driver of Christian's get-away car on RAW?....3 on 2 match was good too, Flair was funny as usual....Nice to see the HOF class (except Rose didn't get beat up!). Nice to see Heenan's tribute to Gorilla during his speech. Those guys were the best IMO, and I always loved Monsoon....The T&A match was allright. I was hoping someone would get naked though....The C'weight Open went too fast and poor Ultimo, who's dream it was to wrestle at the Garden, tripped on his way out....Lesnar v.s Goldberg: Wow. The match was so surreal for so many reasons. Really, really weird vibe to it. I can't even say whether it was good or bad. Just, weird....Did Vince ad-lib thanking the fans, fearing a riot after the last match?....The Smackdown Tag match was nothing special....

 

Molly v.s Victoria was good but, jeez, poor Molly! She looked like Kane....Real good Eddie/Angle match 'cept for the finish, when it was obvious Kurt was pulling Eddie's boot off, not putting him in the anklelock....Disappointed a bit with 'Taker's look- he's got the old school attitude but the new school tights. Kane's acting has been great throughout this angle.....As much as I've crapped on Trips in the past, not only did he drop the title at the biggest event ever, but he tapped, not Michaels. I may not like him, but I'll give him credit. MOTY candidate.....A side note- The fans seemed dead the whole night. They didn't pop for anything, from the Foley hot tag to even the women's match. I was real disappointed with the crowd.

Everybody talks about how it is about time that HHH lost the belt but remeber he did let Goldberg have it for a month of two and will most likely win it back from Benoit next month in Canada.

isnt Trips supposed to take some time off now?

He's supposed to be shooting some movie after the next PPV, I'm pretty sure.

 

Also, I was disappointed with 'Mania except for three matches:

 

1. (my personal favorite) Eddie/Kurt

 

2. Triple H/Michaels/Benoit (for obvious reasons)

 

3. Jericho/Christian (for the turn)

 

The fact that they built up Taker and brought back BikerTaker with Paul Bearer riding sidesaddle is funny (interesting note, Paul Bearer, like Roddy Piper before him, said on a show of NWA: TNA that he'd never work for the WWE again, oh the irony). I hope Take wears that cowboy hat when he comes out on his motorcycle. Cowboy hats are cool! Except for the fact that Kane sold EVERYTHING perfectly to this guy during their match, it sucked.

 

Cena/Big Show wasn't bad, but it wasn't good.

 

Cruiserweight open was disappointing (more time, please).

 

Both tag matches were just "eh."

 

Women's match was too short.

 

The show, for how long it was, didn't have nearly enough "Wrestlemania" moments for me. They could have cut out a few of the things on that show and let some matches have more time and I would have been way more entertained. A good pay per view, not a classic by any means other than the fact that Benoit won.

I personally liked that little piece of business Rock, Foley, and Evolution put together.

"Walker: Texas 'Taker" and "Wyatt Earp meets old Undertaker" are some of the descriptions the guys I watched WM with came up with about 'Taker's attire.

I think Taker stays on Smackdown, but we'll see.

 

As for Edge, he's still 2-3 weeks from being able to wrestle, I hope they build him up for a couple more weeks. I want to see him back, but a couple more weeks of that awesome video package would only help him.

well they gave Hardcore Holly a title match at a ppv...

I also agree that some of the matches could have been longer but it was still a great show.
