The Marlins finances are in order, no team is allowed to be in as much debt as you imply. Milwaukee and Arizona are close to that mark, but no there. I believe the mark is 25% in debt.

Yeah but Joe Robbie paid fo Pro Player and didn't Arison paid for AAA(Not 100% if he did)?Now Panthers were in a similar scenerio to Marlins current one.At one point the Panthers couldn't even make their payments to the county until recently when they refinance their debts? I think City of Miami is trying to avoid another disaster.
March 17, 200422 yr The City of Miami is looking to get their foot in the money, because they have a disaster with the OB renovation. UM has some money, but the city doesn't. The Marlins just realized this and the county has told them move on to these other sites. Mr. Burgess, county manager, is a very good businessman with a good staff (i know some on his staff personally) and if the Marlins, Dade County, the state, and the host city (if there is one at the chosen site) can get it done in the time, it will get done.

I'm only 19 so I have really have no clue what happen during Joe negotiations wtih the county. Why doesn't Loria bring in a majority partner who has $$$?Another good option beside selling the team.I'll hate to see the team move because of owner not having the deep pockets.
