March 17, 200422 yr The Marlins who you should be angry at not city of Miami. They had their chance to take the deal which included a retractable roof but rejected the deal because orange bowl site?I know is not be best site in the world and I even said that I wouldn't enjoy going to that area but why the hell the Marlins being picky here? Beggers Can't be Chosers They have no money upfront for the project and yet making demands on the city.I'm tire of this bull$hit. Why don't they do us all a favor and sell the team to someone who actually has money.A deal won't be reach under their terms come next deadline.I don't blame city of Miami who made their best proposal considering their limitations.
March 17, 200422 yr I understand exactly what you are trying to say. I am very upset right now. They better get on their feet and do something. I don't want to see the "Portland Marlins".
March 17, 200422 yr The city is to blame they wanted the Marlins to pay for a majority of the ballpark and OB renovation and get around the same, because of a one sided lease, as they do in PPS.

March 17, 200422 yr That is not wrong info. Arriola even had to confirm it. His deal was for the Marlins to pay for the OB site ballpark ($137 million), some of the money forced to go to the OB renovation and the city would keep parking, concessions, luxury suites and everything but ticket sales. For that, they should stay at Pro Player.

Alright but what you expect the city to finance the whole ball park and tell Marlins here you go?Who knows how long it would have taken the Marlins to paiy the 137 million they pledge. BTW You heard this on the news or radio?
March 17, 200422 yr Minus you are an example of a big problem in South Florida...you are not grateful. The man brought us a World Championship! He and his staff worked hard to keep this team going forward and now he asks for something he should have had coming in and the City of Miami played games and waisted their time. Now Dade County has told them look to these other sites and you shall see a real deal get done. Look at the last three teams to build a stadium/arena down there and the biggest thing in common: The County built it! Joe Robbie/Pro Player Stadium: County held land donated by elderly couple for stadium Office Depot Center: Broward County helped build it. AmericanAirlines Arena: Dade County is paying Arison back for it.

March 17, 200422 yr Author Before you start blaming Loria and Co., shut up and learn the facts. What facts that they don't have money?Want a stadium paid for by the tax payers for "137 millions dollars in pledge money"? STFU A tam who need to finance money in order to complete the purchase of the team.Loria should sell the team because he shouldn't own a professional team when he can't afford one.
March 17, 200422 yr I am a conservative, but a ballpark is a civic thing. It can bring in bowl games, NCAA tourneys, etc. because it has the roof. Tampa Bay was able to save it's hockey franchise, get a baseball team, host a NCAA tourney and do smaller events every year because of that Dome many love to hate. People there love the dome! You know why? Because it put St. Pete on the map. For industry there is nothing bigger than name recognition.

Nobody writes a $137 million check. You STFU, they pledge to put future profits to pay debt service like you promise to put future salary into your mortgage. Arriola is trying to knock down the Marlins because he can't have them.

I can't remember because it has been a while, but I think Arriola's comments were on WIOD during a newsreport and they had a sound clip with Samson responding then they had a poll and the such with their coverage. must have been around Dec. or Jan.
March 17, 200422 yr I bet you didn't know Arriola was a Phillies fan. I bet you didn't know that he is the only one putting out the rumors that the Marlins can't pay, of course, during Goldberg's show because Hank doesn't have the balls to ask him if he has checked the Marlins' books lately.

You know how many offers and counter offers must have been submitted after dec/Jan? Samson would have mention something about it in the press conference because it would have been more understandable deal breaker. You and I have no clues on what was the proposed deal details were so we can't assume that was part of the final proposal.

Alright cape what Loria networth?
March 17, 200422 yr That is the proposed deal and that is why it will not be in the Miami City Limits. You can't get around that fact. the city of miami has no money, the marlins do, that is why the county continues to go along with the marlins on the other sites.

Alright cape what Loria networth? Loria's net worth has nothing to do with the ballpark. By the time this baby is done being payed for, Loria won't own the team. Florida Marlins, LP has the ability (confirmed by Dade County and the State of Florida) to pay $137 million plus cost overruns for 30 years or they wouldn't be pledging money.

Marlins have money? You mean future revenue money? How can you bank that the FO will keep a winning team on the Field to put people in the ballpark and pay their debt?
March 17, 200422 yr You don't think the Marlins could pay $4.6 million a year for 30 years? That would give you $138 million.
March 17, 200422 yr Author You don't think the Marlins could pay $4.6 million a year for 30 years? That would give you $138 million. I don't know. We're talking about an owner who need extra cash for MLB to complete purchase. The last two years the Marlins have a defecit of 40 mil(?).Loria already has enough problem as it is with creditors so is best for him to sell the team to someone who has money.
March 17, 200422 yr I'm pretty upset, but we don't have all the details to make a sound judgement at this time. Are you going to trust the venon out of the mouth of Mandinch, Hank, the Herrald and Arriola? The Marlins are looking like a greedy organizations in the eyes of the majority of South Floridians. With the said, I'm still willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. I'm still optimistic that a deal will be reached by May/1. Lets read between the lines here, if the Marlins said no to OB and/or Arena site, that means they have their eyes set on an alternate site in the Miami city limits or outsite the city limits (Miami Dade County) that are better for the organization. Let keep in mind that you can't put all your cards on the table, during negoziations.

Just because he borrowed the money, doesn't mean he doesn't have it. It was a move to cut his losses in case the Marlins couldn't get a stadium deal done and the team folded.
