Das Texan
Alright folks.... Since I'm being narcisstic and all....and didnt want to find the thread they are all in... Here are my MLB predictions. AL East Yankees Boston Orioles Blue Jays Devil Rays In the east.....the top 2 and middle 2 could easily be flip flopped. If all things were to align properly one of the middle two could jump up into the top 2...but that will take a lot. Tampa again is destined to last. Shocker. AL Central Kansas City Minnesota White Sox Indians Tigers The Royals still have enough talent on their roster. They have to stay healthy. Soemthing they are not at yet in their pitching staff. If they can get fully healthy by May and tread water till then they should be fine. Minnesota is not as good as last year. Period. I think they need a shot in the arm of something...The White Sox will go as far as their pitching staff takes them. Garland has looked good this spring...but I am not sold on Loaiza repeating last year in any way. The Sox need Konerko to bounce back. The Indians are probably a good year or two away from contenting....although its plausable they do it this year. The Tigers need an infusion of talent which is about 2 years away probably, once all the garbage is off the books. AL West Angels A's Mariners Rangers The Angels are the most improved team in the league. They will win the division as long as they dont have a repeat of last year and have injuries galore. The A's are still solid...but you cant keep letting your stars walk and expect the other guys in the lineup to pick up the slack. Eventually its going to come back to bite you. This may be the year it begins. The Mariners are a good team...but there is just something about them I dont like. The Rangers will score a ton of runs. But they will give up that many plus another half ton/ton. NL East Florida Philadelphia Atlanta Expos Mets Call me a homer. I'm picking the Marlins to win the East, even though the majority of America is picking the Phillies. The Marlins have the rotation to keep them in games. They have decent to good everyday players in all positions....the biggest question marks obviously being catcher and first base. If they can get Choi or Castro to bust out, they will be fine. The Phillies will put up a dog fight with the Marlins though. They are very talented, but NEED Pat Burrell to bounce back. Else they wont do a thing. Atlanta has pitching talent..but they are not the offensive juggernaut they were just last year. That will hurt them. The Expos and Mets are just trying to tread water this year. NL Central Astros Cubs Cardinals Reds Pirates Brewers Call me a homer Part II. The Astros will win the central. The Cubs are the media darlings and nobody seems to want to even consider the Prior injury anything that is serious. He will be out till May at the earliest. The Astros have just as much talent up and down their roster and they are healthy, with championship experience...world championship experience. The Cardinals just dont have the pitching to contend with the big two. I expect to see them there for most of the year, but fading in the second half of the season. The Reds just need to find pitching. If they can do that, they are a .500 team...else they will struggle with the also rans in this division, quite possibly two of the absolute worst teams in the bigs. They will both finish under .500. The Brewers have a bright future and we may start to see that in the second half. The Pirates are doing..I dont know what they are doing. NL West Padres Giants Diamond Backs Dodgers Rockies Call me a fool now. San Diego is going to win in PETCO. Call me an idiot if you want, but I like this team. The Giants are not as good as in years past. They need to start to get younger, which they have started to do, but not as much as they need to. The Diamondbacks will put up runs. I''m not sure if they have the pitching needed to get the job done though. The Dodgers are the exact opposite of the DBacks. They have tons of pitching...but need offensive help. Adrian Beltre busting out would be nice. The Rockies are the Rockies. They have Todd Helton and Preston Wilson and a bunch of hopes and prayers. There are the divisions. The AL Wildcard will come down to the A's and Red Sox. The Red Sox will win it and be bounced from the playoffs somewhere. In the NL its coming down to the Cubbies and Phillies. Whoever is healtier gets it. Angels vs Yankees in teh ALCS....Yankees win. Marlins vs Astros in the NLCS...Astros win (shocker huh?) Actually I would be thrilled if either team wins it...this is just more 'dramatic' Astros vs Yankees in teh World Series....... Astros take it. So there you have it. Discuss and rip.
