May 7, 200422 yr http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/sportsbusin...tory?id=1796968 Friday, May 7, 2004 Associated Press ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Texas Rangers announced Friday that The Ballpark in Arlington has been renamed Ameriquest Field in Arlington, effective immediately. Ameriquest Mortgage Company and the Rangers have signed a 30-year agreement establishing the new name. The deal was reported to be for about $75 million. "We both are investing in a long-term relationship that includes naming rights and extensive involvement as a community partner and corporate leader," team owner Tom Hicks said in a news release. The baseball team has been negotiating with the California-based lender since at least February. Hicks had reportedly been trying to find a company that would purchase naming rights for The Ballpark since his Southwest Sports Group bought the team, plus land near the stadium, for $250 million in 1998. Ameriquest, which has been using Major League Baseball increasingly as a marketing vehicle, is sponsoring voting for this year's All-Star Game in stadiums and online.
