Why trade for someone that is making almost seven mil when you can just sign someone for less than a mil who can do basically the same thing except center and you don't have to lose a player to do it?

If you can find a player we can sign right now that can do anything close to Finley, I'd love to hear who it is. We'd pay a fraction of Finley's salary. The DBacks would like pick up some of his salary no matter who they trade him to. Finley isn't Beltran or anything, but if some of you don't think he'd help our team out a lot down the stretch, I don't know what to say to y'all. If y'all are happy with Cordero and Nunez being our top two back-ups for Conine/Pierre/Cabrera/Choi, please state your name so I'll know who to call out over the course of the year once the b***hing continues when Conine/Choi/Nunez/Cordero go into long slumps the rest of the year.

If you need a pinch hitter off the bench and a real first baseman, why not Galaragga? We already have Nu?ez and Lenny as backup outfielders, that is 5 total OFers. Chalk up Mordy, Easley, and Big Cat as emergency OFers, and we are more than fine without Finley.

Finley is much more than just a back-up OF like Harris. Finley can be a legitimate starter if one of our other OFers becomes hurt. Him and Conine would have to put their egos aside in chase of another title and split time. I stated that in my prior threads. I'm not looking for Finley as a pure back-up OF. He allows us 5 solid starters for 4 positions (OF and 1B). Lowell had his hand broken last year. What happens if Cabrera or Pierre break thier hands before the year is out and we need a guy that can solidify our line-up to get us to the post-season or for a post-season run? Do you want all our current back-ups to be in the position? I sure as hell don't trust them. But that is just me.

I cant believe no one knows how we got Abe Nunez. He was a PTBNL in the Matt Mantei Deal. We received from ARZ Penny, Vlad Nunez, and Abe Nunez.

Not everything that can go wrong will. Juanpy played every game last season, Miguel has only had minor injuries, and the same with Jeff. I don't think we need a starter quality backup when our three starters are healthy. Plus, if Finley does come over, chances are it'll cost Choi his starts, and do would more bad then good.

That's just plain stupid. Any team that gets Finley is going to use him as a starter, not necessarily in center, but as a starter. For God's sake, he's leading the league in home runs!

 

I think we've got 3 guys who are legit starters in Pierre Conine and Cabrera, our hands are tied because Cabrera's bat belongs in the lineup but he just can't play right, but he's not going to replace Lowell simply because Lowell can only play 3rd (and he does a pretty good job of it). What we need to maximize production from Conine and Choi is a legit 3-hole hitter or a 4/5 hole hitter. Problem is, the only positions we can convincingly say that we need an offensive upgrade are catcher and SS, and I see no indications that we're going to do anything about Gonzalez because Beinfest and McKeon are two of his most vocal supporters. That leaves us in the market for a catcher and a bat off the bench, Finley fits neither of those.

I wouldn't call Finely a superstar but he isn't a 4th outfielder by any means. He's a legitimate quality player, some could call him a star.
