June 6, 200323 yr ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Texas Rangers traded outfielder Ruben Sierra to the New York Yankees on Friday in exchange for outfielder Marcus Thames. Thames has been assigned to Triple-A Oklahoma of the Pacific Coast League. To replace Sierra on the roster, Texas recalled outfielder Kevin Mench from Oklahoma. The Yankees lead the Boston Red Sox by a half-game in the AL East, but All-Star center fielder Bernie Williams is on crutches because of an injured knee. He isn't expected to return until sometime in July. The club's first baseman and designated hitter, Nick Johnson, is also out. He was leading the league in walks until he suffered a stress fracture. c/o espn.com

June 6, 200323 yr Author then i got this from rotoworld.com Thames has been playing at Triple-A Columbus, compiling a .207 average with 13 homers and 45 RBI. The Rangers get younger with this deal, and add to their options in center field, but Thames won't be a long-term answer for them. still not great though.
