First impressions of AJ

Featured Replies

I think he looked above average, for someone who hadn't pitched against major league caliber hitters in over a year 2 runs allowed in 4 innings is pretty solid. it would have been even better if our bullpen wasnt s***. but thats another post. his fastball was good averaging 96. it took him some time to get his offspeed stuff to respond but in his last inning (4th) both his change up and knuckle curve were both working. his curve was really bitting by the end of his day. what i cant wait for is seeing him over the course of this year to see how he improves. honestly after hearing how you cant really return from tommy johns and expect a first solid year my expectation dropped but AJ has always been the ace of this staff so i do expect a good year out of him.

basically agree with what everyone has posted

i was totally satisfied, he definitely didn't bomb

can't wait for his next start
