Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis are exempt from criticism on the board it seems.

Funny, Miguel has K'd 75 (leading the team by 16), and his OBP is nearly 30 points lower than Hee Seop's.

 

Don't see anyone jumping on him.

So, where's the logic?

Miguel's as big a part of the problem, but while Cabrera may be leading in strikeouts, he also leads in RBI, HR and is a close second in total bases.

 

I'm not a huge sabermetric buff so OPS and OBP do very little for me, sure it's a stat, and I read understand and mostly agree with Moneyball, yet I'm more inclined to side with a guy who leads our team in the two most quantifiable offensive categories, instead of a stat put on a pedestal by a team that can't get out of the first round of the playoffs. OPS makes sense, and I agree, it helps evaluate two players with similar numbers, but I don't think a lot of players can even tell you what their OPS is or who's leading the team in OPS, but they sure as hell can do that with HR's and RBI, and opposing pitchers can too, and that shakes them off their game a whole lot more...

Perhaps Miggy leads the team in RBIs because he gets so many opportunities?

if i had to chose between Conine or Choi to bat in the 3 spot, id chose Conine. But i'd rather have Lowell in the 3 spot.

Only reason why OPS was posted was because so many here live and die by it.

 

The problem is Miguel has all these homers and RBIs, but I think it's gotten to his head. He isn't doing ANYTHING on offense, striking out all the damn time, and killing rallies. He has no business hitting third when he can't produce recently.
