please explain, where in the sky would these stars be, or is it dependent upon the star?

here goes my credibility...

 

(NOTE: the above can be hallucinations, tiredness, are anything, but they or what they saw. Whether they are real or not is beyond me, but I did see them)

 

I have seen UFOs. One was this crazy star that would never change its position every night outside of my old house. Stars naturally change their position in the sky in a very slow matter...this one didn't. It would consistantly stay between a the branches of a bare dead tree. Every night, all night, and our whole family saw it every night. IT just looked like a star and it somehow gained the nickname "hoonstar" for whatever reason. I'm no astronomer and it was probably a star, but stars should not stay in the same position...

 

I have seen numerous times in white plains new york metallic balls that would fly around and go behind a branch or something (in the distance) and not be seen again. This I have seen 4 times and I guess these are hallucinations, but I have seen them a bunch of times.

 

I have seen a comical looking UFO that looks like it is from a 50s movie. IT flopped around in the sky and I yelled at my sister to look at it and she looked exactly a second too late.

 

On an airplane I saw a black thing way in the distance flying really fast and making radical turns. My brother saw it too so it was either a government aircraft or a UFO.

 

And that's all I saw. My Dad used to go camping on Hawk Mountain with his friends and for some reason they have a crap load of security in the middle of no where. Nonetheless, they all saw a UFO once. I never believed my Dad's story and one day we went to Hawk Mountain just to hike up and I said, "Show me where you saw that UFO." He said, "OVer there near the cliff" or something like that, and on the bare rock there was grafitti of alien heads and such, indicating other people have seen the same thing there.

 

 

There are indeed UFOs. What exactly UFOs are we do not know.

stars move around the sky depending on the hour it is. (so actually you move on the earth, making it seem the stars are moving) the earth revolves around the sun and spins on its axis. so the stars you see at night are actually not there in the day time (if you could see through the sunlight in the day time) and they vary depending on the time of the year. this star could have very well been a new star (depending on how many stars are visible on a nightly basis) or it could have been the same star (depending on how many days this so-called star phoenomena accured)

this is a good arguement, but it can also be pointless. yes, the universe is HUGE and it is almost impossible to calculate how many solar systems there can be (every star represents a solar system, and there are billions upon billions of galaxies each containing billions upon billions of stars). but on the contrary, it is VERY hard to have a solar system or a planet sustain life. for example, the majority of stars do not meet the criteria for life on one of its planets. some might be to large, or too small, or too close or too far. and some do not even have planets. one example is our planet, if the earth was a bit larger or a bit smaller, it would not sustain creditible life forms (the days and nights would be too long or too short) and if the earth was about 2% closer to the sun or 2% father, it would either be too hot or too cold to sustain life. these are just a few things that come into effect and how they could play the role of sustaining life. I believe that somewhere there has to be some form of life somewhere else not on earth. this does not mean some super intellegent alien lifeform like most people tend to think. but anything, from a simple species of bacteria is considered an "alien" because it is life outside of earth. but do not get me wrong, i am not counting out that there COULD be an intellegent form of life somewhere. i am simply saying that it is not a strong possibility, and for it to have traveled to earth?!? its very doubtful.

I could have sworn Furman told me he was picked up by a UFO once and he was then anally probed for hours

If you drew a line from the south pole, through the center of the earth, through the north pole and kept going, Polaris is somewhere along that line. It won't appear to move because its along the axis of rotation. Everything will appear to rotate around it.

 

Because Polaris's angle never changes, the observed angle between polaris and the horizon can be used to calculate your latitude anywhere in the northern hemisphere. This is the geometric basis for a sextant.

 

If you were looking north at the time, you probably just locked in on Polaris. Polaris is pretty bright. If you were looking kinda south and it was a dim star, you may have found a geosynch satellite that was particularly reflective.

It was south and very bright, and didn't move. In no particular pattern (very rarely as well) the light wasn't there and the next day it would be back.
