I want a cell phone, and was wondering if anyone had NEXTEL and what they thought of it.

i know why you want nextel.

I have an extel and have not had any problems.

 

I would try and look for a phone on EBAY though they will try to kill you with some of the newer, not much better ones.

they wouldn't be so bad if they got rid of the walky talky feature.

 

i have a verizon and it's been flawless. great reception everywhere, decent plans, nice looking phone, great features, very happy with it.

 

though i've been through sprintpcs and they are the worst!

terrible customer service, terrible everything!

The walkie talkie feature is the whole point of getting one.

it's like it was made to annoy the public,

as if anyone wants to hear your entire conversation.

 

why don't you just (not you personally) pick up the phone and talk.. that's the purpose of a cell phone.

Because you can get to the person quickly and dont have to worry about minutes and crap. If I need to say.....How many cases should I get it takes 5 seconds instead of diling and waiting for them to pick up.

that's the same thing as not picking up.

 

i think it's good for important people, like doctors or whatever.

 

not people like us. (not that we cant be doctors one day).

 

minutes are hard to run out of. i never have yet.

If your phone is on, it goes through. You can alert them as well.

I know a few people who weren't happy with Nextel. They didn't get very good reception around where I live in Northern VA

nextel has plenty of advantages (the walkie talkie). It is also used in instances where people need to talk to each other a lot, but are in separate vehicles. It's also good for outdoor activities, such as 4x4in, skiing, hiking, etc. It can be used like a CB too. It's an awesome feature, being able to walkie talkie someone on the other side of the country. I want NEXTEL...for that feature alone...but right now, it's not worth the time, energy, and/or money to switch, when I'm satisfied with Cingular.

 

I have a question about NEXTEL though. If you do not have cellphone service in a certain area (bad signal or whatever), can you still use the walkie-talkie clearly?
